21 from Chattanooga area softball in all-state

The Chattanooga area had 21 players on the 2014 Tennessee Sports Writers Association high school all-state softball teams announced Saturday, with eight from the Division II-AA finalists.

Pitcher Madi Stanley, infielder Kelby Crownover and outfielder Bailey Davenport represented Girls Preparatory School, which ended Baylor's three-year run as state champion with two finals wins in Murfreesboro. All-staters from Baylor were pitcher Kayla Hughes, infielder Haley Andrus and outfielders Noelle Wrinkles, Precious Birdsong and Lauren Lewis.

Ooltewah in Class AAA and Arts & Sciences in Class A each had two all-state selections: outfielders Allie Jones and Ashunti Cooper for the Lady Owls and pitcher Brianna Taylor and catcher Kiara Suttles for CSAS.

Other area all-state players were infielders Kelsey Payne from East Hamilton, Hallie Davis from Walker Valley and Haley Reynolds from state-third-place Soddy-Daisy in AAA; infielders Ashley Brown from Bledsoe County and Aubrie Bowman from Polk County and catcher Katelynn Cheatham from Sequatchie County in AA; and infielders Halle Williams from Boyd-Buchanan and Alyssa Coppinger from Whitwell and outfielder Allison Meadows from Silverdale Baptist Academy in Class A.
