Good Deed: Stranger paid for couple's groceries

Stranger paid for couple's groceries

Recently, at the Walmart on Brainerd Road, I witnessed a good deed. My husband and I were standing in one of the checkout lanes. We watched a couple trying to pay for their groceries. The cashier was having a difficult time trying to get the customers to understand that the EBT card they were trying to use was being declined. They did not seem to speak English.

I noticed the card was split so I tried to explain to them that they needed to call the number on the back of the card. Then an unknown customer, waiting his turn to check out, made a wonderful gesture and paid for the groceries. I thought that was such a grand deed. (I have no idea what the bill was!)

Good deeds are being done in our great city.
