The Olive Branch

about Clay Bennett...

The son of a career army officer, Bennett led a nomadic life, attending ten different schools before graduating in 1980 from the University of North Alabama with degrees in Art and History. After brief stints as a staff artist at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and the Fayetteville (NC) Times, he went on to serve as the editorial cartoonist for the St. Petersburg Times (1981-1994) and The Christian Science Monitor (1997-2007), before joining the staff of the ...

I just want my fellows to know that I posted these comments on the “civilian” editorial section of this paper. Other than viewing the cartoon, most readers simply “pass on by” or if they read a few posts, they just keep on going. I understand that we, who choose to enter this area, share certain anonymity with our comments – sort of a “backroom” discussion where we engaged in heated discussion and exchange callous words. However, it appears that Conservative, enjoys harassing the easily impressed.

“Conservative,

Leave these people alone and come back to our hole where those who enter understand the consequences. They are civilians!

I have read your posts and have observed your condemnation of our brothers. You transgress, my friend, and you are a hypocrite. Read your post. Do you believe your thoughts, behavior and comments are “righteous?” Do you understand what the word “reviler” means? Investigate and objectively review your words.

You continue to slither in the bile of this earth while speciously believing that you are anywhere near Him. Remember, ”angels will not enter a room where there is a dog.””

Here, we share our views on anything from politics, race, religion, war, border intrusion, etc., and although we do not agree on much, I hope we can all unite and let this coward understand that this type of intimidation is unacceptable.

Timbo, since you deciphered the 1st, can you solve the puzzle I left you – 4th paragraph? Omit the salutation to our friend.

I am convinced now that you have decided to install a Chattanooga chapter of the Westboro Baptist Church right here in the Chattanooga area.

The difference of course, is that you do it anonymously, hiding behind your computer, like the coward you have become known for being.

You're a big man behind your anonymity, and I have no doubt a total wimp face to face with people. It could not be any other way.

Just remember always Connie, you WILL meet the God, face to face, one day, who will cite each and every one of your transgressions, sins, and your false witnesses, and you will pay for each and every one of them.

There will never be peace in the Middle East as long as extremist Islam is around. In fact, peace and freedom are not compatible with extremist Islam. Israel is a country in which people are free to worship as they please, Arabic and Hebrew are official languages, Both Arabs, Jews, women, and Muslims participate in governing, and it's a Democracy. No wonder they're a thorn in the side of extremist Islam.

As long as Muslims call for the extermination of Jews and the state of Israel there will never be peace.

Even if Israel were wiped off the map, extremist Muslims would not be satisfied. They'll move on to another target.

zablededodo ~ you need to catch up on your history lessons. If you want to go back to the beginning, then the first known civilized inhabitants of Palestine were the Canaanites about 6000 years ago. According to the bible, Abraham immigrated to Palestine (Canaan) and was a refugee with the Canaanites. Abraham's son Isaac married a Canaanite, so did his son Jacob, and his children after him. Thus the descendants of Jacob (the Israelites are at least 87.5% Canaanite blood). The Palestinians are considered the descendant of the Canaanites. Because of the above, genetically, the Palestinians and the original Israelites (not the converts to Judaism) have almost identical genes. So whether you consider the recent history or the old history, the Palestinians were there first. However the problem is not who was there first. Palestine could have taken both peoples. Muslims, Christians and Jews had lived in Palestine peacefully together for hundreds of years before Israel. The problem is that the Zionists ethnically cleansed the native population and never allowed them to return in spite of several UN resolutions.

July 20, 2014 at 6:43 a.m.

The issue is this NOW, today, in the year 2014, Hamas and extremist Muslims do not recognize the right of Israel to exist. In fact, they want all Jews be exterminated. That's the way it is now. That's the problem, period.

Israel works for everyone, no matter what race or religion. extremist Muslims and anti-Semites just can't stand it. Your post, Wally, is just diversion.

Israel has bent over backwards for "Palestinians", but it will never be good enough.

I see you used "ethnically cleansed". Astounding. It won't work, your attempt to put them on the same level as Nazis. Ridiculous.

Stop buying into what Zionists claim Israel "has to do" and look at what Israel has actually done. The maps tell the story of a nation eager to conquer lands which do not belong to it. Israel has invaded virtually every nation it shares borders with, including Syria and Lebanon, and as the map above shows has almost conquered Palestine and is ready to "ethnically cleanse" the region. Far from being the poor victimized society desperately defending itself Israel likes to pretend it is in order to wrest more money from Americans, Israel is in fact the most militarily aggressive nation in the region.
Israel has ALWAYS portrayed non-Israelis as animals, in order to make it easier for the American tax payers who pay for the weapons, to accept their killing. And Israel has always resorted to staged terror bombings to further its agenda, such as the Lavon affair and more recently when a supposed suicide bomber turned out to be a known Israeli collaborator.

Not according to those Ethiopian Jews flown out of Africa several years ago/sent to resettle in israel. They were treated so horribly they begged to be sent back to their native homeland. Israel today is more like apartheid south Africa in the mid 20TH century. You may want to watch that video of Israelis protesting and attacking African immigrants and chanting israel is a jewish nation, intended for jews only. Then there's israel's prison population which, like america's prison population, that incarcerates a high record number of its brown skinned citizen. Israel is only second to america when it comes to having the highest incarceration rate in the world, specifically of its minority brown skin population. That video showing israeli police beating the crap out of that american/Palestinian child looked eerily like how america treats its brown and dark skinned citizens.

"Israel has always portrait non-Israelis as animals"? "staged bombings" You're joking, right?

I think it's pretty well established, Wally, that extremist Muslims,Hamas, and others are pretty good at bombing and shooting rockets at Israel and everywhere else. Ridiculous. You can write that in all seriousness? Extremist Islam's hostility is staged, yeah, sure it is. Staged since 500 a.d.?

For a nation that has "invaded" other countries, and is "eager to conquer lands" they sure have done a poor job of it. Israel has given up land, actually. It's pretty small, and it's not getting any bigger. So where are these conquered lands?

You're paranoid, and you come across like an anti-Semite.

Nobody is perfect, but you'll go nowhere trying to convince anyone that Muslims/Hamas aren't committing acts of violence and starting fights. That's what extremist Muslims do best. History proves it. Events going on now proves it.

If I wanted to I could compile a pretty long list of vile things Muslims have said about Israel.

Hamas is shooting rockets into Israel. Israelis are spending many hours in bomb shelters. They do it often.

This is 2014, Israel is a sovereign nation that is under attack. They have every right to defend themselves.

You're one of these people that think we should give back America to "native Americans". How about the "native Americans" give back the land to the animals that were here before they were, before the ancestors of the "native Americans" crossed the land bridge from Asia? Ridiculous.

I'm tired of folks like you basically blaming all the ills of the Middle East on Israel. It's getting old, really old.

Why not focus on real injustice, like all the atrocities being committed by extremist Muslims against Christians and those of native religions in Africa? Or the kidnapping of girl by Muslims, who sell them into slavery or as sex slaves? How about ISIS slaughtering people who will not convert to Islam?

You need to stop listening to ant-Semitic propaganda.

Very nice today Clay. The broken olive branch is quite apropos. I do think the branch, which has been detached from reality (the olive tree) long ago should be brown and withered.

Do the Israelis or Palestinians really want peace? Or is the doublethink of the Arab/Israelis a more apt description; ‘The objective is not to win, but to maintain a constant state of conflict in order to keep its citizens under control.’ ”Oceania(Israel) has always been at war with Eastasia (Palestine).” It seems to fit quite well - don’t you think.

The entire Western media always frames each and every violent death of any Palestinian as a necessary 'retaliatory' strike (this is especially true of FOX news) based on any previous attack by Palestinians at any time. Just as easily, the media could have said... ‘home made rockets were fired into Israel in response to the 6 year imprisonment of over a million people living in the Gaza Strip.’ Ever since the prisoners of Gaza democratically elected someone to represent them that was not a stooge of Washington or Tel Aviv, Israelis in close consultation with the U.S. have been trying to figure out a way to ethnically cleanse the Gaza inhabitants in case they grew uncomfortable with their indefinite imprisonment.

Fortunately for the Israelis, one Merkava carries more firepower than all of the home made rockets ever fired into Israel combined providing an unfair advantage in suppressing the Palestinians. As building of extermination camps doesn't sit well with Israelis, the Palestinians will be culled in a more 'humane' method using everything from HE bombs, offshore artillery and good old fashioned rifle fire. Many Palestinians who committed the crime of owning a home in an area coveted by Israeli settlers, have had their homes expropriated, bulldozed and replaced with bitter, racist settlers who hate anyone not Jewish equally. The displaced Palestinians as a result are now locked up in Gaza in the hopes that not a single Palestinian gets pissed off at the Israeli State or else mass murder will ensue to keep the prisoners in line. Meanwhile the Israeli government, who denies that their racism in any shape or form, continue to espouse their views that a single Israeli soldier's death is a greater tragedy that the death of a thousand Palestinian children and their mothers.

Because Israelis consider themselves to be the 'chosen people' and the fact that Israel has a massive and secret nuclear arsenal capable of ending life on the planet as we know it, gives them the moral high ground in any discussion of a possible peace with their prisoners.

Zableedofisterix, Your posts are almost verbatim what Sean Hannity spews. You need to dig a little deeper than the misinformation FOX news flings with wild abandon. While not a supporter of Hamas by any stretch of the imagination, that fact of the matter is that after urging by the USA, the UN and Israel, the Palestinians held elections (democratically I might add) and Hamas carried the majority, whether you like it or not. Personally, I think the Palestinians voted stupidly. But that’s not my (nor yours) call to make. To say, ”they deserve what they get.” is as extreme as any Hamas statement.

By the way. It has been claimed that Palestine never really existed to start with. As the Prime Minister of Israel said, ”There was no such thing as Palestinians, they never existed. How can we return the occupied territories? There is nobody to return them to." Hmm, what do you make of that?

Libdem, horse crap. "fear the smell of white America" It won't work. Immigration is one thing, allowing our borders to be flooded in some orchestrated move to gain politically from it, and to benefit certain corporations is quite another. Stupid, kneejerk race card statement. Some of the loudest objection to our borders being invaded are from black US citizens.

Modern day Palestinians have no claim to the land that is now the State of Israel. They're Arabs. They have no connection to Palestine from long ago. They came from Jordan, Syria, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia. Yassir Ara'fat wasn't even a "Palestinian", but an Egyptian who founded a terrorist organization. There was nothing there but a bunch of Arab tribes from those various countries fighting with each other. There was no nation of "Palestine" there. Israel is formed in 1948, they build up the country, which was nothing but a barren hole into a modern country. Modern day people, who call them- selves "Palestinians" have absolutely no claim to that land.

I don't know about other Christians on here say, but I have said that you cannot be OK with the abortion mill that goes on in this country and call yourself a Christian. There's a huge difference between an abortion that is due to a medical emergency of some sort, and the abortion machine we have in this country. Being OK with that is completely incompatible with the teachings of Christ. That's my opinion.

Why don't these modern day "Palestinians" go back to Jordan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and the other places where they came from before they took their nomadic ways to where Israel is now? Those countries don't want them. Jordan wanted nothing to do with them after 1971. Maybe because they were being led by a terrorist.

How can one legitimately object to something that the Bible does not even address at all?

"Being OK with that is completely incompatible with the teachings of Christ. That's my opinion."

It's a very stupid opinion, for Jesus never said one word about abortion either.

You're free to correct me, if you can, but you're NOT going to even find the word abortion ANYWHERE in the Bible.

There will never be a solution to the Mideast problems (at least those between Israel and the Palestinians) as long as the Israelis think of themselves as "God's chosen" and so many Americans likewise believe such nonsense. It is disgusting that much of our foreign policy is based on the notion that so many of our politicians tacitly buy into the Biblical notion of Israel's sovereignty.

For those who haven't already seen it, watch "Waiting for Armageddon" (available on Netflix streaming), a documentary that reveals how a large number of evangelical Christians are doing everything in their power to influence politicians and others to protect Israel at all costs, as they believe the Second Coming is imminent and will have its beginnings there.

Z-man wrote: "..."stupid opinion" I think anyone with even the most rudimentary knowledge of the teachings of Christ couldn't possibly come to the conclusion that he would be OK with abortion, and the 60 million abortions since 1973."

An all seeing, all knowing God and his Son could not see to it that it is mentioned even once in the Holy writings that Christians claim is our handbook of life?

We're to believe that the Bible offers prophesies, yet to be fulfilled around this world, yet believe at the same time that God nor his Son could not take the time to prohibit abortion and a few other things that some Christians take it upon themselves to prohibit on behalf of God?

"Whether he mentioned it or not has no impact on it at all."

That's a non-argument. The Bible contains 667 listed sins. Why is the act of abortion not listed there as well? NOBODY listed it, much less God or His Son.

I can EASILY argue that if it does not appear in the Bible, it is not prohibited or a sin. How can anyone counter that logically?

"Sorry, it would take some contorted thinking to believe Christ would be Ok with it."

I never presume to speak for God or his Son.

You just did.

What gives you any such authority to determine what either God or Jesus approve or condemn, IF IT DOES NOT APPEAR IN THE BIBLE?

How would we even know of God or Jesus, if is was not for the Bible?

Therefore, if it is not in the Bible, it must not be prohibited or a sin, right?

If you ask me, and I know no one did, this issue is proof that the Bible was written by mortal men, who knew nothing of God.

Why?

Because an all seeing, all knowing God would have foreseen the act of abortion and it would indeed appear in the Bible.

I would agree with anyone that the act itself is very serious and can have even more serious consequences. So why didn't God or his Son address it?

Why do uber-religious people beat their Bibles when speaking about abortion. God or Jesus never once raised the issue.

What does anyone base their objections upon, if God and Jesus had no objections of their own?

Abortion is A-Okay with God and Jesus, for they never once offered an opinion on it.

God was responsible 32 times for mass murders he ordered or committed. THAT is indeed in the Bible and it can be read by everyone!!

Evidence is everything. You cannot prove that God prohibits abortion, but I CAN PROVE he is a mass murderer, for it is written in that holy book time and again.

Abortion mill?? Fifteen years ago there were over 2000 abortion clinics in the U.S. Today there are 750. I would hardly call that an abortion mill! Not only have the number of abortion clinics been drastically reduced (thanks to the overly zealous efforts of evangelical Christians and the Republican politicians they have influenced), there have been so many ridiculous and cumbersome rules and regulations put in place that, even though abortion is still legal, it has become next to impossible for a woman to get one.

I know that you wacko extremist anti-abortionists and fundie cretins won't be happy until Roe v. Wade is overturned and abortion is made illegal in the U.S., but you can hardly refer to the few abortion clinics that remain open today as "abortion mills!" You have succeeded in almost completely stripping women of the right to choose, so you should be rejoicing instead of continuing to whine about "abortion mills." But...I know, I know...you won't rest until you have saved every last fetus and embryo from being "murdered." And then when they are born to impoverished, emotionally immature women who can't give those babies a good home, you will turn your backs on them and whine about them being "moochers and takers."

Yeah, Rickaroo..and the Muslims don't see themselves as "GOD's chosen" Ever heard of "convert or die" Muslims have been killing in the name of Allah since 500 a.d. They call for the killing of all Jews. Muslims not only believe they're the chosen ones, but that they have a right to kill anyone who doesn't believe.

Freedom and peace does not work with extremist Islam. However, Israel is made up of Jews, Arabs, Christians and Muslims. They have the freedom to worship as they please. Israel is a diverse place. There will never be a solution to Mideast problems as long as extremist Islam is present.

Oh, well, Rickaroo we'll have to do something about the decrease in abortion clinics, for crying out loud! 60 million since 1973 isnt' enough? It's only to grow. How many clinics would you like, 5,6000? Oh, you silly lib. Any woman that wants one can get one. We got to get those numbers up!!

To follow your logic we must believe because Israel existed in the Bible so the state post WWII Jews created by terrorism be a "new " Israel (In spite of the fact God hasn't sent someone to anoint a king), and also therefore we should believe the list of biblical calamities and problems that have besieged them as a result of their apostasy since the Assyrian captivity, not the least being Paul's assessment, post-Jesus. Sounds pretty much like a Red or Blue can believe that.

Exactly, al.

The typical anti-abortionist hates "big gubmint" and resents government interference in our lives in any way. Strangely enough, though, they insist on government interfering in a woman's right to choose; but then, after government forces a woman to have a baby she doesn't want or cannot properly take care of, they insist on a hands-off government that should not help in any way to feed, clothe, or educate that child. A fetus in the womb of a woman they don't even know is their business, but a baby born to an impoverished home is, like you say...."gitch gitchy goo, now it's all up to you." Effin' hypocrites, every one of 'em.

Umm Zableedofisterix,

Your contention; quote: ”Modern day Palestinians have no claim to the land that is now the State of Israel. They're Arabs. They have no connection to Palestine from long ago. Modern day people, who call them- selves "Palestinians" have absolutely no claim to that land.” has absolutely no historical sponsorship. Thus I posit. The same case can be made for modern day Israeli’s, for they too have no connection to the Israelite s from long ago.

Specific references to Palestine date back nearly five hundred years before the time of Jesus. In the 5th Century BC, Herodotus, the first historian in Western civilization, referenced ‘Palestine’ numerous times in chronicles of the ancient world.

The Histories, including the following passages, (compiled by Nima Shirazi) describe the ‘Syrians of Palestine’. "...they live in the coastal parts of Syria; and that region of Syria and all that lies between it and Egypt is called Palestine." (VII.89) The above translation by Harry Carter is featured in the 1958 Heritage Press edition of Herodotus' famous work. Both older and newer versions corroborate the accuracy of the reference. A. D. Godley's 1920 translation of the crucial line states, "This part of Syria as far as Egypt is all called Palestine", while Robin Waterfield's 1998 updated Oxford translationrenders the passage this way: "This part of Syria, all the way to the border with Egypt, is known as Palestine."

A hundred years later, in the mid-4th Century BCE, Aristotle made reference to the Dead Sea in his Meteorology. "Again if, as is fabled, there is a lake in Palestine, such that if you bind a man or beast and throw it in it floats and does not sink, this would bear out what we have said," he wrote. "They say that this lake is so bitter and salt that no fish live in it and that if you soak clothes in it and shake them it cleans them." (II.3)

Two hundred years later, in the mid-2nd Century BCE, ancient geographer Polemon wrote of a place "not far from Arabia in the part of Syria called Palestine," while Greek travel writer Pausanias wrote in his Description of Greece, "In front of the sanctuary grow palm-trees, the fruit of which, though not wholly edible like the dates of Palestine, yet are riper than those of Ionia." (9.19.8)

Continued from 5:47 above

Despite the Zionists’ claim "the Romans didn't rename Judea as 'Palestina' until a hundred years after the death of Jesus," contemporaries of Jesus also routinely referred to Palestine as, well, Palestine. For instance, in the first decade of the 1st Century, the Roman poet Ovid mentioned Palestine in both his famed mythological poem Metamorphoses and his erotic elegy The Art of Love. He also wrote of "the waters of Palestine" in his calendrical poem Fasti. Around the same time, another Latin poet Tibullus wrote of "the crowded cities of Palestine" in a section "Messalla’s Triumph" in his poem Delia.

The noted Alexandrian Jewish philosopher Philo, writing around the 1stCentury CE, opined, "Also Syria in Palestine, which is occupied by no small part of the very populous nation of the Jews, is not unproductive of honourable virtue." (XII.75) The Jewish historian Josephus (c.37-100 CE) was born and raised in Jerusalem, a military commander in Galilee during the First Jewish Revolt against the occupying Roman authority, acted as negotiator during the Siege of Jerusalem in 70 CE and later penned vital volumes of Levantine Jewish history. His The Jewish War, Antiquities of the Jews, and Against Apion all contain copious references to Palestine and Palestinians. Towards the end of Antiquities, Josephus writes, "I shall now, therefore, make an end here of my Antiquities; after the conclusion of which events, I began to write that account of the war; and these Antiquities contain what hath been delivered down to us from the original creation of man, until the twelfth year of the reign of Nero, as to what hath befallen the Jews, as well in Egypt as in Syria and in Palestine, and what we have suffered from the Assyrians and Babylonians, and what afflictions the Persians and Macedonians, and after them the Romans, have brought upon us; for I think I may say that I have composed this history with sufficient accuracy in all things." (XX.11.2)

The claim that the Roman emperor Hadrian, eager to punish Jewish inhabitants of Judea after the Bar Kokhba Revolt, officially changed the name of the region to "Syria Palaestina" or simply "Palestine" in 135 CE and forced the Jewish community into exile is dubious at best, especially when, by then, the terms "Syrian Palestine" and "Palestine" had already been in use for over six hundred years.

So ah – you know - get your history right Bucky.

You teabagging nitwits who keep calling liberalism a "disease" really need to grow up and get a grip on reality. Liberalism, just like conservatism, has been a fact of life for every society and government all throughout history. Liberalism has been responsible for every stride forward that has been made for the average person as opposed to the authoritarianism and oppression of the monarchy or those who felt that their wealth or birthright gave them power and superiority over the masses. Liberalism has always been truth speaking out against the status quo of inequality and blind acceptance of custom and tradition. Conservatism has its place, but without liberalism no strides forward would ever have been made.

Without liberalism there would not even be a United States of America! Liberalism is what gave us the strength and the courage to set ourselves apart from the Church and the King of England. Liberalism is what gave us the Emancipation Proclamation, the Civil Rights Act, women's rights, workers' rights, clean air, clean water, and a slew of other things that most people today, conservative and liberal alike, take for granted.

We libs certainly disagree with conservatives on most basic political issues, but we do not call conservatism a "disease." We at least acknowledge that conservatism has its place and that sometimes it is indeed good to be conservative. It has only been the past decade or so, especially since the advent of the Tea Party, that it has become commonplace for conservatives to call liberalism a disease. You really need to grow up and think about what you are saying - If you are capable of thinking at all, that is. Too many of you obviously let Faux News and the RWNJ talking heads think for you.

Remember this: the term "Israel" is a state of being rather than an actual place. It's anywhere there's a massive land grab is destined to take place and the land is bloated with natural resources. Today it's oil, poppy and precious metals in the middle-east, parts of africa--where oil, precious metals and massive water natural water supplies such as in the Horn of Africa. Yes! There's been fighting going on in the Horn for quite sometime now that's been left out of mainstream media.

At one time, the land native people once freely roamed on a northern continent was called "Israel" or the land of milk and honey. That was when fertile land for planting crops was needed. During the war between the north and south, or civil war, the south often referred to itself as Israel. Promising to grant any slave who fought on the side of Israel their freedom if Israel was victorious. Some slaves brought into the lie while others pretended to only long enough for a chance to escape and join the union. Others didn't know any better and agreed to fight not knowing they were helping to preserve slavery.

Israel is anywhere there's massive natural resources the wealthy and powerful wish to own and control. Today that place is the middle-east because the powerful wants to control the massive oil reserves and virgin untapped oil well in that part f the world. Along with the poppy that grows there in abundance and other rich resources. Even the Vietnam conflict was mostly about having lost control of the marijuana trade.

old z-fuster is sputtering again and sez, "Abortion is the murder of the most innocent."

Well buddy boy, in the United States abortion is not a crime, it is legal and upheld by the US Supreme Court. Furthermore you run over all the physiological evidence about the ability of a fetus to survive outside the womb in your sweeping statement.

Now you may have religious scruples about it that causes you to feel it is a crime. Observant Jews feel that way about eating pork. But they don't force us to forgo pork as an illegal food. You might even feel that way about eating meat on Friday for all I know, but so far not even the extremist Catholic male Supreme Court justices have gone over the edge following you.

You want to squawk about abortion how about doing it in your own home. It is a painful subject to many women who have HAD to have abortions to save their own lives. There is no place for your extreme religious bigotry in a free country such as the USA. You need to catch up with con-man or June whoever he/she is, or one of those Muslim extremist you talk about and have a good pow-wow comparing notes in your own little square somewhere in these environs.

You also need to bone up on your Biblical history. While originally Israel referred specifically to the 12 tribes, until it was irretrievably broken by tribal infighting. Israel referred to the northern tribes since the fall out amongst the 12 tribes. Judah (and the land of Benjamin) is what we now commonly call modern "Israel." But the nation of Israel has been irretrievably broken and can only be healed and united in one way. The meaning of the name by the way is as true today as then, "He who struggles with God." If you read the biblical record of both the Northern and Southern kingdoms you appreciate that the behavior of the modern "state" of Israel is actually virtually a carbon copy of the behavior of both Israel and Judah in the pre-exilic era. They have their boot on the neck of the poor and alien in the land, take the wealth of the land, abuse then severely and lord their religion over them. And that only applies to the small majority of observant Jews in a land full of secular Jews.

That is no justification for antisemitism (nothing is), but it does put a little cold water on the fire you are trying to start.

You ought to consider the value of getting a life.

"Abortion is the murder of the most innocent. You can't paint a pretty picture of it no matter how hard you try. Not possible. Mother Theresa has piles of quotes about abortion. Your cheap attempt to smear her is pretty sad, really."

She was just another woman, as far as I'm concerned. I respect no Catholic as an authority on who Christ was, or what he stood for.

Most of the teachings of Catholicism do not come from the Bible, so what relevance do they have to any other Christian? None

"Abortion is the murder of the unborn for convenience. 60 million is a nauseating figure. Any Christian should be sickened by it."

You've repeated yourself four times. Repeating garbage that does not bolster your case, is useless.

You cannot tell me by what standard and what text I can go to that tells me that God, his Son, or any legislative body has outlawed the act of abortion for all Americans.

"It doesn't matter if it's not in the bible, neither are a lot of things. It also doesn't matter that it's not a crime, it's evil."

Name another sin that is not in the Bible, that should be.

"Oh, it's legal so it must be OK with Christ?"

No. It was not addressed by Christ, hence it was not an issue with him. The same goes for God.

Both are still alive, are they not? Why in the world would they not find some way to let us know that abortion is wrong, if in fact either of them has any problem with it?

Whatever happened to "God can do anything?"

"I'll say it again, no Christian can be OK with abortion."

How dare you attempt to speak on behalf of every Christian. The nerve of some people.

"You can toss whatever at this to divert, but there a few things less Christ-like than murdering the unborn."

God killed many who were barely out of the womb. God himself killed many who were in the womb. THAT'S IN THE BIBLE!!

He set the example and I don't see you downing him for murdering the innocent. Some of you people just ain't right. Your entire lives are double standards.

Deuteronomy 29-30 is very simply a citing of the "terms of the covenant the Lord commanded Moses to make with the Israelites in Moab, in addition to the covenant he had made with them at Horeb."

To keep it all in context, read that which appeared before and following your lifted quotation;

15 - See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction. 16 - For I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him, and to keep his commands, decrees and laws; then you will live and increase, and the Lord your God will bless you in the land you are entering to possess.

17 - But if your heart turns away and you are not obedient, and if you are drawn away to bow down to other gods and worship them, 18 - I declare to you this day that you will certainly be destroyed. You will not live long in the land you are crossing the Jordan to enter and possess.

19 - This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live 20 - and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the Lord is your life, and he will give you many years in the land he swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

Look a little closer. Please just look again...a l-i-t-t-l-e closer. Reconsider the "Women's Decisions"!

The child is in the Mother's womb. So, the Mother thinks, "Humm, this child is a part of my body, ergo, i can murder him/her". Or, if the Mother does not think she has a child, or, developing child going through the Life-Process in her womb, then, she may think, "I choose to get rid of 'It'" [she thinks 'fetus']. Now, {look, and, look again---look a little closer}. If Mom decides to follow thru with this reasoning, or, lack thereof, then Mom may now decide, "Hmmm, I have some of my own Mom's blood, (and her Dad's genetics) in My body. I don't want this, and, since it is part of My body, then, I will Murder Myself and get rid of It". Well, Folks, 'NEWS FLASH'...Self Murder is against the law. It is a crime!(In some U.S. states, suicide is still considered an unwritten "common law crime"), Now, I know that one does not have to commit Self Murder to terminate a Life-Process [Abortion]. Yet, to carry through with that line of thinking, then, where does it stop? Maybe, since that Mother has a fully developed Child which has her (the Mother's) blood, and, she does not desire some of her own [pro-choice] blood being there (in her anti-abortion Daughter), then, Mother has the Right to Choose to Murder this Person (her Daughter) which she allowed to complete the Life-Process from the time of conception? Hey, Mr. or Ms Feminazi, please rethink your God/Goddess-Like thinking. It just may be that if something within that thinking does not change, then, you may find yourself in big trouble with the True God...The Lord God of Hosts, Jesus Christ of Nazareth, who said, "Thou Shalt Not Murder!" "It is utter blasphemy to claim that God came out of a women like all people, it is utter blasphemy to claim God came out crying and screaming and being helpless and weak."

"Such nonsense is insulting to God; this itself is enough to prove Jesus is not God. How can you claim that God came out of a woman?"

No matter how abhorrent a sin these self-righteous zealots think abortion is, it is none of their business unless the woman who is considering an abortion is directly related to or personally involved with them in some way. Abortion is and should always be a personal decision between the woman, her conscience (or God, if you will), her doctor and the man who impregnated her. If what the woman does is indeed a sin, then she will have to account for it, and it is no business whatsoever of the do-gooders who want to get the government to force their will on every woman. In other words, you self-righteous jerks should simply BUTT OUT of the lives of women you don't even know. It is NONE OF YOUR DAMN BUSINESS! And if you want to insist on making it your business anyway, then you should be prepared to personally help feed, clothe, and raise that baby you are forcing that woman to bring into this world.

The more I read about various religions, the more I am convinced they are not based on Biblical principals.

The Catholic religion, the Mormon religion, and a few more are not based on anything in the Bible.

Homosexuality and other listed sins are not directly condemned by God or the Son. They are opinions written in the Bible.

And now we see that abortion, a hot button issue in this nation, and most often any objection to it is based on religious values, isn't even addressed in the Bible.

Religious values are fast looking like a crockpot full of crap.

It's no wonder why people have so much trouble walking down that straight and narrow paths all the time.

There aren't that many of them that are defined.

July 21, 2014 at 9:26 a.m.

Wally..give it up. Israel now, in 2014, is a sovereign country. That's the reality. They're not going anywhere, they will defend themselves, and they have a right to.

Modern day, so called "Palestinians" will never get Israel "back" because it was never theirs, period. They're as illegitimate as their former leader Yassir Ara'fat, who was Egyptian.

Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iraq, Syria and Jordan, where they came from, will not let them live there, and in fact Jordan booted them out in the early 1970's.

The problem in the Middle East is that extremist Muslims hate Jews, and nearly everyone else who will not believe as they do. That's the problem, and it has been the problem for centuries. They don't get their way, so they kill or terrorize until they do.

Ther're many here who aren't Christians, they dont' have to believe what I believe. It's their call. But, to call yourself a Christian and believe in abortion is twisted. So what if it doesn't say it in the Bible. It says nothing about a lot things, but it doesn't mean they're not evil. It doesn't say anything in the Bible about making lampshades out of the skin of Jews either. So, I guess it was ok for Nazis to do that, huh? It doesn't mention gas chambers in the Bible. So, I guess it's ok to gas people then?

Alprova, yeah, Christ is ok with murdering the unborn. You keep believing that. We're supposed to believe that Kermit Gosnell, the infamous abortionist, is fine in the eyes of Christ? So because it doesn't mention it in the Bible his actions are acceptable? Madness.

If you're a Christian then you believe everyone has a soul. At one point in your existence you were unborn, obviously, so to say that it isn't murder and it's OK with Christ, tells me you're not a Christian, you're something else. You're a liberal who says he's a Christian.

Even if you're not a Christian, abortion shouldn't be acceptable.

Sir, I am looking at this entire thing LOGICALLY. God did give me a brain to be able to do that very thing.

If there is no law against it, be it God's law, or man made, then I find it perfectly okay to support it.

God nor his Son, nor anyone else who wrote the Bible, saw fit to address the issue with so much as one sentence.

My stance on this is just as valid, more so in fact, than anyone who claims to know God's intent or that of the Son. No one alive and on this Earth is empowered to speak for God or the Son.

"so to say that it isn't murder and it's OK with Christ, tells me you're not a Christian, you're something else. You're a liberal who says he's a Christian."

Al, The core of Reformed Theology holds that you are in fact correct to a point, many things are and are not mentioned in scriptures; therefore, we must apply the core theological essence of Christianity to "modern" circumstances not mentioned. It is illogical to apply a fully literal formula, unless we believe certain things mentioned in history remain legitimate and condoned today, such as slavery. Paul for example today and then would never apply the Law (kill an adulteress, forbid someone with a skin disease from entering the sanctuary, for example) especially on Gentiles.

You stray when you say, "I've been duped my entire life into believing that if one had a question about life, all they needed to do was to go to the Bible." You are not duped but the bar has been raised higher by the world's ability to create new moral dilemmas. The expectation placed on you and your community of believers is to determine from the essence of scripture what is permissible and what is not.

I have attended many different religious platformed based churches in my lifetime, and have adopted many of their beliefs, and at the same time have rejected many beliefs as well.

Connie cannot deal with any truths that I type, especially if they contradict the Christian teachings he has had driven like nails into his brain.

My truths are not condemnations or statements against the Lord.

They are facts that may be found in the Bible, and can be confirmed at any time anyone desires to verify them for their own satisfaction.

Therefore, Jesus did indeed sin and it can be read in the Bible.

Jes cannot be God, for Jesus is recorded in the Bible stating clearly himself that God is his Father.

John stated clearly that no man hath EVER seen God.

Jesus cannot be God.

32 instances of mass murder are recorded in the Old Testament. There is no other way to describe them. Some were mass murders of children alone. God ordered or himself committed these murders.

And lastly, the Bible is not the word of God. It never has been. It was written by approximately 40 mortal human men, each with opinions of their own that you know made their way into their letters.

My God gave me a brain to reason with, to think with, to separate fact from fiction, and I have used it all of my life.

Again, you're wrong.

"Maybe that is what a Republican president should do about abortion rights, ignore the supreme court ruling."

Kind of like you're ignoring the facts. Your hypothetical argument is based on a misunderstanding of how executive orders actually work compounded by the fact that you live in this Right WingNut bubble where facts do not permeate your mind. No laws are being ignored.

"Now are you happy?"

Ehh.

"Abortion is the sacrament in their Church of Liberalism. It means everything to them. It's sick and bizarre."

Or, maybe, the right for a woman to make a choice about the fetus growing inside of her is actually something "liberals" deem important. There is a clear distinction between a fetus and a baby/child out of the womb. Also, all you "pro-lifers" seem to have a very different opinion of the "children" at the border. I guess you hypocritical dipsh!ts only care about children in utero, correct?

So, stop acting like you care about the "sanctity of human life" when you do everything in your power to do things detrimental to the lives of children that are out of the womb.

Also, "What a lame, contrived excuse." and "Every statement there is patently false." and "Again, you're wrong." don't qualify as arguments.

The fact is that our side thinks they are being ignored. When there is a Republican president ignoring something you think is important you will howl. The difference is that I think Obama is wrong and I thought that Bush was wrong. Executive orders ignoring laws is wrong period.

You saying someone doesn't "understand" is bizarre.

"He is not enforcing the laws on the border, he broke the law with Obamcare, he is ignoring supeonas."

Not one immigration law is being ignored. There are plural laws being followed that supercede laws some want to see enforced, but not one law is being unenforced. ObamaCare was approved by the Supreme Court, and I was totally unaware that the President had been served a subpoena.

"He is not "overturning" laws, he is just ignoring them."

Cite one of them in detail.

"Maybe that is what a Republican president should do about abortion rights, ignore the supreme court ruling."

God does not opine about it. Jesus does not opine about it. The Bible does not even mention it, once.

According to the law of the land, it is perfectly legal for me to support a woman's right to choose to keep an embryo or not.

How do you support your case? How can you claim that God and Jesus are anti-abortion when both of these still living individuals never get proof to anyone that they consider it to be wrong.

Quit trying to speak on behalf of God, Jesus, or to offer words that the Bible itself does not contain.

The only person who even stands half-a-chance of dethroning Hillary, and I'm waiting for some polls to verify that, is Elizabeth Warren. She's extremely popular, nationwide.

I am not pro-Hillary. She is a neo-liberal and even more of a corporate lackey than Obama. America has become an oligarchy and that suits Hillary fine. She will do nothing but sell out to big business at every opportunity. We need someone like Elizabeth Warren who is not afraid to stand up to Wall St. and the corporate fat cats, but Ms. Warren does not have nearly the commanding oratorical powers that Hillary does. Hillary is a great speaker and tough as nails. She is unflappable. She will most likely win hands down against any Democratic opponent. As for the Republicans, the only chance they have of beating her is for them to run a smart, savvy, woman or a black or Latino man, and there is no such contender that I know of.

As for the Republicans digging up any dirt on Hillary, they will come up with nothing but past peccadilloes (and that's all she has in her closet; nothing of a serious nature that could harm her) and they will look like fools for even bringing them up.

As for foreign policy, she will be even more hawkish than Obama and her hawkish tone will come across clearly in all of her speeches. Republicans won't be able to out-hawk her on foreign policy, not even with the Benghazi incident (again, a mere peccadillo, at worst).

She will most likely win the women's vote, the youth vote, the minority vote, and the vote of every moderate Democrat, PLUS the vote of every independent who votes purely emotionally, simply thinking it's time that we had a woman president.

An added advantage for her is that she will have hubby Bill stumping fiercely for her and he is presently riding a wave of popularity, coupled with the fact that he is a powerful and persuasive speaker himself.

You guys claiming that Hillary is history or "toast" or washed up, don't know what you are talking about. The only way Hillary is going to lose in 2016 is if she slips up majorly between then and now, and that is not likely to happen. Brace yourselves for President Hillary Clinton in 2016, you Republicans, teabaggers, and haters of liberals in general. Ready or not, like it or not, she WILL be our next President.

What an idiotic thing to say. We libs love our freedom just as much as any conservative or libertarian. You guys don't have a monopoly on the "individual freedom" thing. Just because we believe in strong safety net programs and a government that is pro-active in protecting the environment and the rights of the average citizen against runaway corporate greed and self-interest doesn't mean that we want a "nanny state."

America has worked best for the most number of people whenever we have had a sensible blending of free market practices with some socialistic policies. Not everything should be handled by private business. Those things that serve the public interest and that pertain to the health and wellbeing of the citizenry should not be privatized but put in the hands of government, where profit is not the main concern. We libs are not calling for a purely socialistic state but rather a balance between a free market and a government that reasonably restrains that free market from veering off into pure self-interest.

You righties like to say that we hate profits, business owners, and the free market in general, but that is a blatant lie. We respect business owners who have a social conscience and who treat their employees fairly. We know that profits are necessary for a business to be successful and we do not begrudge business owners their profits. But when those profits far exceed the miserly poverty-level wages they pay to their employees, then, yes, we despise those greedy bastards and they deserve to be called out for their greed.

You call liberalism a "disease" but we do not call conservatism a disease and in fact we acknowledge that conservatism can sometimes be a good and necessary thing. But you on the other hand have sunk into a cesspool of visceral hatred of all things liberal and you have forgotten how liberalism has been responsible for every major step forward this nation has made. Without liberalism there would never even have been a United States of America. You can keep on childishly calling liberalism a "disease" if you want to, and keep on whining about how we libs just want a "nanny state," but you only call attention to your idiocy and immaturity when you do so.

And guess what he was right - he got elected! Teabaggers scream and holler about how you speak for the "little people" but there is a "silent majority" out there that says otherwise and come November before you start claiming both houses of Congress are going to be controlled by Repubs you should remember while President Obama 's approval rating is low the majority of the country rate Repubs even lower and teabaggers even lower than Repubs. Well I set it up and we went. We did everything she wanted. Didn't miss a beat and guess what..she bitched the whole time. On the way home from the airport I told her that nothing..nothing could make her happy and I was hitting the road.

I don't know what figurative plantation you are talking about, but it's a fact that Uncle Toms Sowell and Walter Williams are snugly ensconced in the cushy confines of the rich old white men's county club. If that's where they want to be, then that is their prerogative and they should certainly have the freedom to think, act, and talk like old rich white farts if they want to. I do not begrudge them that freedom. It's just a shame that they have sunk so low as to let themselves become like their "massas" in order to be accepted into that rich old white man's environment. You honestly think that Republicans would accept them if they acted and thought any way other than like rich old white men? Not hardly.

Z fister so you finally got a chance to write the n-word in one of your dumba$$ posts. As for Thomas Sowell, make no mistake he is an "uncle Tom" much like Clarence Thomas, Walter Williams and some others out there. As stated before not all Black Republicans are "uncle toms" but most "uncle toms" are Black Republicans who hate their own race like the ones mentioned above and everything they write and say proves it.

Now to get to your comment about Blacks leaving the plantation when they vote for Republicans maybe you can explain why down in Mississippi earlier this month when African Americans got up and went to the polls to vote against that teabagger McDaniel they were accused of cheating? It was an open primary, so why wouldn't McDaniel just accept the fact he lost. See your kind want to have your cake and eat it too. You want to claim African Americans stay on the plantation by voting Democratic all the time but when they do vote in an open primary for the Republican candidate they think is best to represent them, then your kind accuses them of cheating. It's the same thing with Timbo in our recent local election. He claims Fred Skillern lost because Dems voted against him so he thinks if Thurman has a write-in campaign the voters in her district will see the error of their ways and put her on the County Commission by no less than 1000 votes. It will be interesting to read his take on the outcome should Thurman lose to Fairbanks.

July 21, 2014 at 4:48 p.m.

Timbo, you righties are so tightly wound in your tighty-whities, calling liberalism a disease and spewing out your bile against our socialistic ways, that you don't even hear what we're saying. There is not one liberal I know who does not have respect for socially conscious business owners who treat their employees decently and pay them a decent living wage. Nor do I know of any libs who are calling for a purely socialistic state. Yes, there are some socialists who advocate that, but they are a definite minority. Most libs believe in a balance between socialism and free market practices. However, you righties and libertarians call any and every aspect of socialism evil and liberalism itself a disease. Any halfway intelligent person knows that capitalism without restraints is as bad as socialism without restraints. Either road leads to fascism. We can have corporate fascism or we can have socialistic fascism. The trick is to balance the two so that the interests of the most number of people are served. You certainly can keep calling liberalism a disease if you want to, and keep whining about how we libs just want a "nanny state," but you are only being a reactionary, knee-jerk a-hole when you do so.

BTW, that example of your former gf was silly and meaningless. That has nothing to do with what we libs are calling for. You righties like to portray yourselves as manly and rugged individualists, don't you? But your pretense and your obvious insecurities are laughable.

And one other thing...if we keep going down this road of favoring corporations over people, with little or no regard for the environment and the resources we are soon going to deplete, total socialistic fascism will surely be our only recourse. And fascism of any kind is something that nobody in their right mind wants. But I guarantee you we will get it if you keep thinking of socialism in all its forms as evil and do not accept the good things that it can do.

Not only have the majority of your comments about President Obama been irrational, but you fail time and time again to base them on FACTS and not some made up bullsh!t. 99.99% of the time you just spew rhetoric that you 've picked up from some right wing talk/radio show. You have practically no historical reference for the stuff you write and when challenged on it, your responses are like that of a 10 year old. You don't have a clue about the Black Community because if you did then you would know why Sowell, Williams and Thomas are not respected in the Black community. You are ill-equipped to speak about race other than your hatred of President Obama. So stick to that because when it comes to labeling anyone a racist, look in the mirror first.

ibshame, you're a racist. You're "uncle tom" comments clearly show your disdain and anger toward black Americans who have chosen to not be Democrats. Absolute fool. My "hatred" for BO is because he's a narcissist, anti-American, a bully, has no respect for US citizens, freedom and for our Constitution. Sowell and Williams, and Ben Carson, and Clarence Thomas, have chosen conservatism over libaralism...and you - just - can't - stand it. Can you?

They're "not respected in the black community" LOL Oh, really have you taken a poll? SO typical, so racist, so by the Democrat Party playbook. Once again, if a black is not a Democrat, a liberal and is not in the mold of Al Sharpton, then you go after him. You are the party of the hyphen. You're made because they've strayed from your plantation. You're exposed.

July 21, 2014 at 6:23 p.m.

Would you go up to former NFL player BO Jackson or NBA great Karl Malone and call them "uncle tom" No, you wouldn't, because they'd kick your ass. What about Dave Winfield or Deacon Jones if he were still alive? Or the late Reggie White, if he were still around?

No, you wouldn't. Because "Uncle Tom" is a racist term

July 21, 2014 at 6:31 p.m.

All the above were or are Republicans.

Who cares Z-man?

You're a slave to Matt Drudge.

Every time he posts a new headline, you mimic it here in this forum. I wasn't sure until today when you posted what Hillary earned last year.

And Matt Drudge is on par to rival Alex Jones and NewsMax for the most useless and most misinformed news re-broadcasters.

Your ignorance comes to you in small slices and it would be nice if you could or would broaden your horizons.

But...you've been this way on this site for years and nothing is going to change at all.

You can name thirty black Republicans and it isn't going to make a dent in the side of a tin can.

97% or thereabouts of black people know that Democrats are far more likely to represent their interests than any current Republican ever would.

Notice in your list also, were any of those black Republicans poor?

Not one of them were or are.

Republicans only care and work on behalf of the interests of the rich.

There is no way around that.

July 21, 2014 at 6:59 p.m.

Alprova you're a racist as well.

You libs don't like Drudge because he posts links to all kinds of things, many things that you don't want anyone to see.

All of those I mentioned didn't start off wealthy in life.

Is that a problem for you Alprova that they were successful and aren't dependent on the fed. gov.?

Once again, a black american must be a Democrat, vote for Democrats and remain poor and be stuck on the Democrat Party plantation in order to please you Democrat thugs.

You need to broaden your horizons. You're just Democrat Party hack and lunatic liberal.

I saw a vid the other day with an angry black woman tearing into BO for ignoring the poor blacks while attempting to spend billions on illegal alien invaders.

July 21, 2014 at 7:49 p.m.

How does a lying sack of crap like Hellcat, who stood in front of a black audience and mimicked a black accent, in the second most embarrassing incident of that type after Al Gore's black preacher imitation, and who has lied about having hard times in recent years, have any connection at all with black Americans who are poor?

None, of course. She grew up well off in the suburbs of Chicago, and is dripping in wealth now. I guess she gets a pass because she's married to the "first black president"

In fact, BO, has no connection with poor black Americans. He grew up spoiled in Hawaii, and coddled by leftists and anti- Americans. He moved to Chicago and pretended that he was "down with struggle"

July 21, 2014 at 8:04 p.m.

Congratulations to the PM of Canada for standing with Israel and defending their right to defend themselves against HAMAS.

Of course from BO we hear nothing except that he's "concerned"

Weenie POTUS.

Z fister get over it! You don't have a clue and you NEVER WILL. You still haven't explained why the teabagger, McDaniel in Mississippi said Blacks cheated when they went to the polls and chose Thad Cochran over him. It was an open primary just like the ones here in Tennessee so why did he accuse African American voters in Mississippi of cheating? They knew no matter how they voted Mississippi was going to be represented by a Repub so they chose Thad Cochran over the teabagger McDaniel. However, McDaniel has not been willing to accept DEFEAT. Instead he's saying those African Americans should not have been allowed to vote in an OPEN primary. What gives him the right to try and invalidate their REPUBLICAN choice?

As for what I would say to those people you mentioned, if I was involved in a conversation with any one of them and they expressed the same kind of bullsh!t Sowell, Williams, and some others express, I would have no problem telling them what I thought. Let the chips fall where they may. You seem to forget this is still a free speech country, which is really unusual for teabaggers like yourself who are always spouting off about your rights.

Sir, unlike yourself, I can define the word "racist." I'm not even close to being a racist. Neither are you. You're a bigot.

"You libs don't like Drudge because he posts links to all kinds of things, many things that you don't want anyone to see."

I happen read Matt Drudge every day, but I take most of his links with a grain of salt.

"All of those I mentioned didn't start off wealthy in life."

What does that have to do with anything? When they became fine Republicans, it was after they had lots of cash in the bank.

"Is that a problem for you Alprova that they were successful and aren't dependent on the fed. gov.?"

Why would it be?

"Once again, a black american must be a Democrat, vote for Democrats and remain poor and be stuck on the Democrat Party plantation in order to please you Democrat thugs."

Those words are from YOUR fingers. At no time have I ever witnessed a Democrat type such a thing and I know you haven't either.

"You need to broaden your horizons. You're just Democrat Party hack and lunatic liberal."

By that criteria, you would then be a Republican Party hack and a crazy Conservative.

"I saw a vid the other day with an angry black woman tearing into BO for ignoring the poor blacks while attempting to spend billions on illegal alien invaders."

Did you put her up to it? Someone sure did.

Let's just clear this up about Hillary's "dead broke" comment. From the day she and her husband entered the White House Repubs went after them for everything from her time at the Rose Law firm to a land deal called Whitewater. They had to hire attorneys, investigators, and a whole slew of people to represent them They spent hundreds of thousands of dollars, and that's just the money they had to spend out of their pocket. So, yes they were deeply in debt when they left the White House. Maybe instead of saying they were dead broke she should have said they were deeply in debt thanks to the Repubs attempt to remove President Clinton from office by any means necessary.

Fortunately, there are enough people out there that remember the chaos Repubs created. Today's Repubs have attempted to do the same thing with President Obama and they think if they get control of both Houses of Congress they can remove him before his term is up. It remains to be seen if they can capture both Houses but one thing is CERTAIN if that happens (and they try to impeach President Obama the way they did President Clinton) Hillary will be a shoo in and they will lose in a big way any chance to take the White House for many, many years to come.

According to the accounting tea-baggers and others do, regarding the finances of this nation, many would make the statement that the United States is "Dead Broke" would they not?

Hillary's comment was accurate the same way. They owed more than they had on hand to pay.

Hillary is a fearless competitor. The Repubs can throw everything they got at her but when it comes to winning this time she will be RUTHLESS. She will make the nut jobs long for the days of President Obama's attempts to get along with them. The Clinton Machine will CRUSH the RWNJ's and not give them the chance to do to her what they did to her husband and tried to do to President Obama.

BTW using a version of someone else's name means either you are too cheap to get a subscription to the TFP and you are here on a thirty day freebie using a version of someone else's name as if this is your first time here or you've been banned under your other name so you are trolling. It's funny how so many of the RWNJ's try using so many different names. LOL

I am "other" and not a tea party supporter. What would call it if not broke? Would you say slightly in arrears? When do you consider a person or country broke? Is the fact it is not possible to ever pay your debt real close to being broke? Not only are we broke we are becoming more so daily. The republicans mouth the words about the budget being balanced but they actually only advocate slowing the rate of debt growth. The system makes it impossible to address the issue and be elected. A prevailing ignorance of economics and denial of reality by voters will assure a continuation on the path we are following. I have no allusion that anyone not promising the most free stuff will be elected.
