Metro police are investigating the South Nashville shooting of a woman and child earlier this evening.
The woman and child, who was believed to be 5-6 years old, were standing outside apartments on the 600 block of Cannon Street when four males got out of a silver, four-door car and opened fire, said Capt. Randy Hickerson of Metro Police.
The victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center's emergency room and Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt.
