Crabtree Farms won't hold its 12th annual Fall Plant Sale & Festival until September, but it's not too early to be thinking about the plants on your wish list. In fact, it's almost too late if you want to order them in advance.

Orders for the Autumn Harvest Garden must be placed by Friday, Aug. 1. Sized to fit a 4- by 8-foot bed, the package contains healthy, productive plant starts that have been cultivated in the Crabtree Farms greenhouses using sustainable growing methods.

Included are three each of broccoli, Brussels sprout, cabbage, cauliflower, kale, lettuce and Swiss chard, six each of spinach and onion, one head of garlic and one packet each of radish, beet seed and pea seed (substitutions may be made). Additional plant varieties will be offered during the sale.

Cost is $35, which is more than a 20 percent savings off the regular Fall Plant Sale prices, according to Crabtree officials. Orders will be available for pickup during the sale, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6.

Orders must be accompanied by a check or credit card number. Find the order form at www.crabtreefarms.org.
