Little Caesars opens a new pizza outlet on Highway 58

The Little Caesars' empire expanded this week into the Highway 58 area with the addition of the 17th franchised pizza delivery outlet for Chattanooga franchisees Tom and Karol Getz.

"This was an untapped market in our franchise territory and the initial response has been terrific," Getz said Wednesday after his first day with the new Highway 58 location.

Getz, who has worked at Little Caesars Pizza outlets in the Chattanooga area for the past 25 years and owned the local franchise for the past 15 years, purchased the former Lakesite Medical Building on Highway 58 for the new pizza outlet. He also will use part of the 11,000-square-foot building for the headquarters of the local Little Caesars' franchise, which operates under the name KTG Inc., and employs 330 full- and part-time employees.

The Highway 58 structure previously housed Solutions Pharmacy but has been vacant in recent years.

"We lease our other locations, but this was a great opportunity for a store and our regional headquarters," Getz said.

Little Caesars entered the Chattanooga market in 1986. Getz came to Chattanooga in 1989 and acquired the franchise in 1999 with just three stores.

"We've grown steadily since," he said, noting that five of his stores are in metro Atlanta and a dozen are in metro Chattanooga stretching north to Dayton, Tenn.

Little Caesars previously operated on Highway 58 for five years until the store closed in 1997.

Getz said Little Caesars has succeeded in offering value for Chattanooga area pizza lovers. Over the past 20 years, Little Caesars has kept its $5 hot, ready-to-eat, single-topping pizzas.

More than 50 years after its start in Garden City, Mich., Little Caesars is the largest carry out pizza chain in the world.
