• QuickBooks setup Tuesday from 8 a.m. to noon at the Tennessee Small Business Development Center, 100 Cherokee Blvd. Presenter: Lynn Talbott, PHR, HR Business Solutions LLC. This hands-on class is a step by step workshop on how to set up your new QuickBooks files for pro, premier or enterprise version. The class will help determine which QuickBooks products are best for your business and cover the basics of using QuickBooks. Computers provided. • QuickBooks for beginners Tuesday from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Tennessee Small Business Development Center, 100 Cherokee Blvd. This class is designed for those with at least 60 days of QuickBooks experience and files already set up. Class will cover preferences, vendors, sales tax, loans, credit cards, fixed assets, bank accounts, balance sheet explanations, invoicing and much more. Computers provided. • Fifth annual Tennessee Procurement Summit Wednesday from 7:30 a.m. to noon at Tennessee State University, 330 10th Ave., N. The summit is presented by the U.S. Small Business Administration and the TSBDC. Procurement officers will share procurement needs and forecasts, as well as information about how to conduct business with them. Scheduling will allow time for attendees to meet with federal procurement representatives one on one. Representatives from Y-12, TVA, the Tennessee Army National Guard and more are confirmed to attend.

• Ooltewah/Collegedale Council meeting Wednesday from 9:15 to 10:30 a.m. at Collegedale City Hall, 4910 Swinyar Drive. Stu Lewis of Sandler Training will speak on "Networking Works -- Strategic Approach to Networking."

• An hour with my attorney Wednesday from 11 a.m. to noon at the Tennessee Small Business Development Center, 100 Cherokee Blvd. This seminar will explore leases, contracts, powers of attorney, corporate meetings and other topics of interest. This first of a two-part series aims to assist small-business owners in growing their businesses through effective marketing strategies and personal selling.
