Former TVA vice president gets 2 years probation for shipping money to Iran

KNOXVILLE - A former TVA executive who pleaded guilty to violating financial transaction laws was sentenced Tuesday in U.S. District Court to two years probation.

Masoud Bajestani, 59, an Iranian who became a U.S. citizen, was fired from his posiiton as an executive vice president of TVA following his arrest.

His attorney, Don Bosch, told U.S. District Judge Leon Jordan that the $600,000 sent to Iran on Bajestani's behalf was to raise money to pay medical expenses for Bajestani's father, who has since died.
