The Mural

about Clay Bennett...

The son of a career army officer, Bennett led a nomadic life, attending ten different schools before graduating in 1980 from the University of North Alabama with degrees in Art and History. After brief stints as a staff artist at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and the Fayetteville (NC) Times, he went on to serve as the editorial cartoonist for the St. Petersburg Times (1981-1994) and The Christian Science Monitor (1997-2007), before joining the staff of the ...

Ha. Also more or different shape variation than most Bennett cartoons.

Does the same apply to federal enforcement of toilet codes and light-bulb codes and auto codes and tax codes?

IRS : I lost my Tax Information. I won't be able to send you that check. Due to low wattage light bulbs, there just is not enough light to find it. We Square ?

My but how funny it is to see a thread of discussion degenerate before it even takes off.

Low flow toilets and florescent light bulbs are just as good as their older, out-dated counterparts, but they save consumers money.

Anyone who believes that the new light bulbs are dim, clearly doesn't own any of them.

My house is filled with them and they are as bright as can be, once they warm up for a minute or so after being turned on.

I find it amazing that there are people who are so stupid that they will waste their money paying higher electric bills and water bills needlessly.

And these people want to run our nation?

Keep wishing.

As for the White House a big ole brown ass hole would do! Lol, enjoy what time you have left in control you bunch of juvenile Marxist Democrats. November is fast approaching and Sen. Harry Reid has gone completely loco on us. As for Hillary her latest comment about Benghazi tells the story.....when asked about taking responsibility for the cluster furck that was Benghazi..."There is a difference between getting it wrong and committing wrong." Pure spin BS focused grouped and created by that a hole James Carvel. Want more lies, arrogance, and spin.....elect Hillary Clinton!

alprova, the light bulbs are dim, low flow toilets suck, and using one square of toilet paper, as Sheryl Crow would like us to use, doesn't work. Your house is filled with them because you need three times as many to make up for how dim they are. I suppose next we'll have to get used to having no food in the grocery stores like East Germany in the 1970's.

Z-man, I don't have any more light fixtures in my home than I have ever needed and I again state clearly that if you believe fluorescents to be dim, then it must have been awhile since you purchased one.

If you are having trouble with a low flow toilet, then perhaps you need to alter your diet.

This is why I always offer that those who don't desire change, even when it clearly is a good thing, step aside, because the world changes all the time.

If you can't handle change, keep a bottle of Prozac handy, because you're going to need it.

June 21, 2014 at 9:24 a.m.

My diet's fine.

Advancement is great. Intrusion into our lives, the loss of freedom and individuality is never good.

z-bister why don't you raise the plane of your conversation? What about laws requiring immunization, driver's license, registration of engineers, doctors and nurses, purity of drugs and food, or are your only pet peeves the ones to which you can tie a political conspiracy?

The real issue here is the inspector obviously has a burr in the saddle about the owner, and is arbitrarily enforcing a signage ordinance, if not abusing it. Doughnuts aren't sold out of the building, I drive by it once in a while and would have no idea the owner is in the doughnut business. It requires prior knowledge to make that leap.

David Cook, on the other hand, pointed out the glaringly intrusive murals on the side of the Woople office on Frazier that unavoidably is advertising their e-business (sic). Please not the prominent placement of the mural on their facebook page. Those murals need to come down as they serve no public purpose or represent "art." As usual in the small town of Chattanooga, money and connections rule the day, and I doubt we will see that happen.

I hope the lady sues.

June 21, 2014 at 10:09 a.m.

This is government flexing it's muscles and pushing somebody around.

I hope she sues as well. It's government intrusion for no reason.

What conspiracy? Are you referring to my comments in which I accuse both parties and BO of looking the other way while our borders are falling apart so they can gain from it politically? They're both fighting to get the illegal aliens in their camp. That's not much of a conspiracy theory, they couldn't make it any more obvious.

I think immunizations are necessary, so are driver's licenses, certifying engineers, doctors, nurses, and all the rest you mention. But, you libs seem to lower your standards with illegal aliens when it comes to drivers licenses and ID's, and disease.

They come across the border carrying diseases. Immunizations are important. Law abiding immigrants are scrutinized, but where's the alarm from you libs regarding health issues with illegals? Some are being shipped out to relatives already here, illegal alien relatives, asap. That's not a health issue? It's out of control.

What about laws, inq, already on the books..immigration laws? Or do you pick and choose what laws to enforce, like BO?

Z-man wrote: "Intrusion into our lives, the loss of freedom and individuality is never good."

When the founding fathers wrote the Constitution, light bulbs and toilets weren't even a pipe dream.

Rather than to understand that, you want to bitch like a little spoiled brat about things all the time.

Your freedom is just as it always has been. Your life has not been intruded to any degree that it ever has been.

^^ Um, privacy issues, spy drones, IRS meddling, body scanners, and on and on. To deny govt. intrusion is folly.

June 21, 2014 at 10:54 a.m.

Good points, Jack.

Spoiled brat? That's a hell of a leap. Hardly. I've worked hard and never expected anyone to give me anything.

Spoiled, that would be someone who expects someone else do things for you, you know, like the massive entitlement class in this country.

We are living in an increasing nanny state.

I earn what I have and I don't expect someone to hand me anything. How is that spoiled? Wierd.

I think you're constipated this morning. I doubt your low flow toilet will be able to handle it later. I suggest some greens.

June 21, 2014 at 11:05 a.m.

Or, just drink some water for gosh sakes.

June 21, 2014 at 11:08 a.m.

I bought a huge pile of the good lightbulbs a while back. I stockpiled them. So, I won't be buying any of those government issue dim bulbs for a long, long time. LOL Eventually I'll have no choice, but for now, no dim bulbs for me.

June 21, 2014 at 11:15 a.m.

I did buy one of those dim bulbs, though. I tried it in one lamp, and in another I had a good light bulb. No contest. The good on was much better.

June 21, 2014 at 11:36 a.m.

Very funny! They really think we're dumb. Illegal is not a crime. "we have to pass it in order to see what's in it", "our future rests on dreamers"/illegals, and BO was shocked by the problems in the VA. Never ends

Some people have a natural tendency toward dependence, weakness, and being told what to do. These are the people that buy into the global climate change scam and buy a Prius or Leaf. They buy the light bulbs that guvment tells them to buy. They set the foods and go to the schools that guvment tells them too. They buy into the Pro Choice abortion message even though they are Catholic and call themselves a Social Liberal and Fiscal Conservative. These people are nutty Democrats.

I just read that Valarie Jarret, BO's puppet master, well, one of them, had dinner with Rupert Murdoch to discuss "comprehensive immigration reform". It makes me ill. Reform what? They just don't want to enforce the laws. There's nothing wrong with our immigration policies. Everyone else around the world has to come in the right way. Immigrants have been coming here forever and have to follow the law.

So anyone who storms our borders is not considered illegal and should be praised?
