about Clay Bennett...

The son of a career army officer, Bennett led a nomadic life, attending ten different schools before graduating in 1980 from the University of North Alabama with degrees in Art and History. After brief stints as a staff artist at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and the Fayetteville (NC) Times, he went on to serve as the editorial cartoonist for the St. Petersburg Times (1981-1994) and The Christian Science Monitor (1997-2007), before joining the staff of the ...

Another cartoon devoted to ridiculing a mindset that's of no consequence, and is pretty much dead. Go figure.

June 25, 2014 at 8:08 a.m.

McDaniel, who nearly beat Cochran in Mississippi, was ridiculed for having his decisions based on "common sense, God, and the Constitution". I guess it would be better if he based his decisions on Saul Alinsky, Marx, Hollywood, and what corporations want.

Cochran has been in the Senate since the stone age. He's the ultimate pork barrel politician. A do nothing GOP/get along type. McDaniel hasn't conceded citing voting irregularities. Gee, do you think?

Democrats have even campaigned for Cochran. Two parties working together to hold on to power.

No, inq, you're wrong, like all libs are about the Tea Party. As long as there are folks that believe in the Constitution, Freedom, defending our borders, and gov. accountability, then there will be that mindset. It's not a party, there are no rich donors, nobody with that mindset is in bed with corporations, nobody can promise jobs to anyone, and nobody is getting rich like our current two corrupt major parties.

Your post is ignorant. You trash an entire state. There is no connection between the confederacy and the Tea Party.

It captures nothing but you libs' prejudice and ignorance. You're elitists.

This election in Mississippi is the perfect example of both parties working together to hold on to power. Dems helped Cochran. Cochran is exactly what this country doesn't need more of, and what's wrong with our country.

And Fister, you talk of "democrats fear the Tea Party" is absurd. Trust me, the democrats fear a moderate Republican (on the national level) way more then any Tea Party Republican. They almost always say something that sinks their campaign. And you know that's the god's honest truth. June 26, 2014 at 1:44 a.m.

Dems and the GOP are working together to hold on to power. The whole thing is just Kabuki. Another party of any sort has no chance at all. There's too much money, corruption and crony capitalism involved. The fact that a guy can come close to winning at all is astounding to me. A sitting US Senator has unlimited resources. It's almost impossible to get the rid of them. Cantor lost to a guy who had no resources, but he's not a Senator.

You have to be stupid, intellectually dishonest, or a liar to believe corruption isn't involved in winning elections of both sitting Dems and GOP.

It's absolutely out of control. Cochran, who is a Republican, is just a pork barrel corporate whore and an elitist, just like many other Senators both GOP and Dem. He's not a liberal, or a dem, but he was sure able to mobilize them in order to help defeat this other guy. What a joke. Both parties work together. This coddling of illegal aliens is solid proof.

Term limits isn't the only answer, but it's needed. Elections are not term limits. A senator could serve two terms, then out. A Congressman maybe a bit more, then out. What we have now are elitist, wealthy, corrupt, entrenched corporate whores who only care about remaining in office..for decades.

Anyone who is ok with that has issues. Citizen statesman are what's needed. The rest of the country is struggling, but if you go to D.C. and the ever growing surrounding area/towns/suburbs in Maryland, Virginia, it's dripping in wealth.

June 26, 2014 at 9:40 a.m.

The electorate are sheep, inq, and that goes for those who have voted over and over again for crappy Republicans as well, like McCain and Cochran.

What's even more shocking is how politicians openly play on the stupidity of the electorate. The Hildabeast, and Bubba continuing to insist that they were broke/poor and that they're just like anybody else/regular person. Even Biden got in on it.

inquiringmind...dream on...you must be taking LSD. All that election proves is how powerful the tea party is. If 35,000 black racists and liberals hadn't voted for Thad, he would have been toast. Save your democratic party spin for someone else. I know it is hot off the fax machine. I know what you are.

I hope the other guy runs as a write-in. That liberal-loving Thad Cochran is evil. I would rather have a demoncrat than let that guy win. He needs to go...

Easy123...Obama is smart according to the standards in the movie, "Idiocracy." Let's see old dope smoking Barry's undergraduate transcripts. How about his high school records? He was a token black at Harvard and I'll just bet all the little liberals thought it was the bomb to have a black guy as a friend. Liberal guilt and all...

The guy is average all the way, no experience, and is obviously incompetent. I despised him from the start but if you asked me in 2008 what he could mess up in this country, I would have never guessed anyone could be this bad.

He would never, never been elected or even considered if he was white.

There are thousands of black people qualified to be president, he is just not one of them. In other words, he sucks.

zable...you are right, they are both protecting their monopolies on power. They both know that they have to destroy the Tea Party before the public gets smart. Both parties can go to hell.

Inquiringmind.. and the rest of the democrat operatives on this site are spinning this as a Tea Party defeat. This was a win for the 35,000 cross overs protecting their pork. Old Thad has been playing both sides for years.

I am not falling for the lesser of two evils thing. Who is more evil...Frankenstein or the wolfman...Stalin or Hitler... That is the choice we have. The Republicans talk a good game but don't mean it.

I know, I know...the libs love this going on because they will be the short term winner but what are we to do? Just keep getting insulted, put down, by our own party...It is time to go our own way.

Timboner,

"Easy123...Obama is smart according to the standards in the movie, "Idiocracy.""

He's more intelligent than any of his predecessors.

"Let's see old dope smoking Barry's undergraduate transcripts. How about his high school records?"

No student or former student has to provide their grades to anyone. Grades are confidential. You didn't ask to see the coke-head/alcoholic Baby Bush's transcripts. And you probably voted for him twice.

Very few President's divulge their student transcripts. They're usually leaked. You only want to see President Obama's because he's not white. No white candidate before him needed to present their transcripts to prove themselves. You never cared before the half-African American came on the scene. Coincidence? I think not.

"He was a token black at Harvard and I'll just bet all the little liberals thought it was the bomb to have a black guy as a friend. Liberal guilt and all..."

Racism from the racist, Timboner Price. They don't just let people into Harvard, you dumb bastard. You wouldn't know what it was like to "have a black guy as a friend" with all that Right WIngNut "black hate" you have repressed.

"The guy is average all the way, no experience, and is obviously incompetent."

That means absolutely nothing coming from you. It's baseless opinion from a known racist. The man has accomplished more in the last year than you ever dreamed of. Even your fake scientist credentials don't hold a candle to the President's.

"I despised him from the start but if you asked me in 2008 what he could mess up in this country, I would have never guessed anyone could be this bad."

You despise him because he isn't white. He's everything you fear and everything you wish you could be.

"He would never, never been elected or even considered if he was white."

He'd probably be the Emperor of the United States if he were white.

"There are thousands of black people qualified to be president, he is just not one of them. In other words, he sucks."

Probably because he's only half black. That thought doesn't go through your mind though. One drop is enough for racists like yourself.

inquiringmind...You are going to seriously tell us that Cochran did not court democrats to cross over. The robo-calls paid for by Cochran were racist against whites. I heard them with my own ears. My aunt lives in Tupelo. She sent it to me. All my relative live there.

I am not going anywhere. It is people like you that hate the US. Why don't you move to France? A lot of people are moving out because of a socialist government. You can live in a commune with the rest of your comrades. You can even use you democrat talking points that you receive every day through the internet.

Thad proved he was liberal-loving. He courted liberals by pointing out that he brings home the bacon for the state. He is the legendary pork king. He loves spending as much a Harry Reid. That is why a relatively unknown virtually beat him. He would have if dems hadn't crossed over. Some of the novices might believe your spin but I am way past that. He also used the liberal playbook to get elected...lie, demonize your opponent, try to get the electorate to fear them, and....did I say lie?

I know you want us to form our own party because you think that the dems could stay in power and screw the country up even more. That might just have to be the cross we bear to change things in the long run.

As far as LSD, we both know that you have probably done it and I definitely haven't. What you just said was a joke.

You're right timbo. Both parties are protecting their monopoly. Both join forces to eliminate any threat to that. I didn't work in protecting Cantor, but defeating a sitting US Senator is much more difficult.

Who would think folks wanting gov. accountability, our Constitution respected, and our borders protected would be a threat? They're more feared than terrorists by libs.

That's not what you TeaBagger psychopaths want though. You hide behind those things. That's part of the TeaBagger facade. Then you wonder why other people don't go along with you. It's because those things aren't what you're really about. Never have been, never will be. Intelligent conservatives see through your bullsh!t. Liberals and Independents think you're insane and enjoy laughing at you.

"he must be flustered from BO being bitch slapped by the SCOTUS."

President Obama has been bitch slapping you and your ilk for nearly 8 years now. I think he can take a loss every once in a while. How'd that Obamacare vote go in the SCOTUS again? Talk about a bitch slap!

So, you're saying the intelligent ones are sell outs? What's left if the intelligent ones leave?

Also, the buffer zone ruling is a fun one. It means that ALL buffer zones, including "free speech zones" have the potential to be thrown out, no matter who they are for. The Supremes essentially voided their own restrictions for protesting on their own building's steps.

June 26, 2014 at 7:03 p.m.

no, the only conservatives you call intelligent are ones that agree with you. In reality, they're not conservative at all, I don't know what they are.

Why would anyone "cringe" when they see Mark Levin's photo? Let's assume he has one million daily listeners; that's about three one thousandths of the country that hear his message. And that's assuming that the one million all agree with everything he's saying, which is highly unlikely. I have listened to his program. He screams a lot and is a doom-and-gloom kind of guy. He doesn't make me "cringe".

Also z-fister, none of the recent Supreme Court rulings pose much of a problem for constitutional rights and independent branches of government.

The problem with the protest zone decision isn't the law, it is that there is no law against being obnoxious and crass. As Paul said, every thing that is permissible is not always good to do.

Zabybabee, lil timbro 'n gang? Don't gloat too quickly on the SCOTUS recent recess ruling. They actually took the middle-ground in their ruling when they declared recess appointments require a 10 day period rather than a 3 day one. Meaning the president does have the authority to make recess appointments. However, congress must be in recess no less than 10 days for such appointments to take place.
