World Cup

Here's a nice little aid if you need it to watch the U.S. World Cup match today. It's a note from Jurgan, Jurgan, Jurgan Klinsmann excusing you from work to watch the match. Heck, if your boss buys that, tell them the 5-at-10 said you could take the rest of the day.

That said, Noah-like floods are wreaking havoc on the World Cup venues. Whether they get the game in is in question at the moment.

For us to continue this joyful soccer ride, the U.S. has to advance. Period. If the U.S. is left in the group stage, our World Cup interest fades like a pour tee shot.

So here's the scenarios:

U.S. beats Germany today, they win the group and advance;

U.S. ties Germany today, they advance as the No. 2 seed;

If Portugal and Ghana tie today, the U.S. advances;

If U.S. loses to Germany and Ghana-Portugal does not end in a tie, the tie-breaker will be goal differential. Right now the U.S. is +1, Ghana is -1 and Portugal is -4.

Draft and NBA intrigue
