Chattanooga State rises to 25-3

Courtney Crawford was 4-for-4 with an RBI as Chattanooga State completed a weekend four-game TCCAA sweep of Jackson State with a 12-4 win in Saturday's second game. The Lady Tigers won the first game 10-5 behind Hanna Manley's eight-strikeout pitching.

Lindsey Stickrod had two hits in each game and totaled three RBIs in the doubleheader, and Katy Richardson and Dana Horgan matched her at 2-for-4 in Saturday's opener, when Emily Dagnan hit a two-run home run for the Lady Tigers (25-3, 10-2). Baylee Williams was 3-for-5 with a double and Syndey Sloan was 2-for-3 with an RBI in the finale, and Shelby Willard got the pitching win in relief of Layne Smith.

Cleveland State lost both of its TCCAA games Friday at Columbia State, 5-2 and 11-10 despite three Sara O'Rear RBIs, a three-run Leslie Nunnelly double and a two-run Jennifer Kern double in game two.

* Lee 10-6, West Alabama 5-5: At Cleveland, the Lady Flames improved to 12-11, 6-5 in the Gulf South Conference as Ana Coscorrosa drove in two runs in each game and Angie Hughes (7-5) got the first pitching win as the starter and the second in relief. A five-run fourth inning held up for the difference in game two.

Dominique Hannah was 1-for-2 with a homer, three runs and two RBIs and Amanda Lynn was 2-for-4 with three runs in game one, while Meg Macias also had two RBIs and Lexie Dean and Lizzie Stevens each was 2-for-3 with one RBI. Coscorrosa was 3-for-4 and Dean, Hannah and Lynn had two hits apiece in the rematch, Dean with two RBIs and Hannah with two runs. Rebecca Schick (game one), Whitney Brown and Lydia North homered for UWA (13-12, 4-7).

* Covenant 10-0, William Peace 8-8: At Raleigh, N.C., Jordan Brett and Morgan Lane each had an extra-base hit, a single and two RBIs and Lauren Jones, Madison Quirk and Meagan Hess had two hits apiece also for Covenant in the first game of the USA South doubleheader, but the Lady Scots (3-9, 1-5) totaled only three hits in game two.

* Columbia College 4, Tennessee Temple 1: At Warner Park, the South Carolina team dropped the Lady Crusaders to 7-12 with their fourth loss in a row.

* Centre 9-8, Sewanee 1-0: At Danville, Ky., the Colonels swept the Southern Athletic Association doubleheader and rose to 3-5 overall while dropping the Tigers to 0-4. Jessika Young and Tori Silcox each was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored and Emma Ryder doubled in two in the first game for Centre. Young pitched a two-hitter and batted in four runs in game two.

* Carson-Newman 4-6, GRU Augusta 3-1: At Jefferson City, the host Lady Eagles rose to 16-5 with Caitlyn Lance from Ridgeland High School driving in two runs in the first game and Sara Kelley from Ooltewah following suit in game two. Kelli Hensley was 6-for-9 with three RBIs in the doubleheader.
