Books donated to area libraries

Author Jimmy Jones, an active cavalry officer as well as a professional genealogist, served two tours of duty in the 6th U.S. Cavalry. Prior to his deployment to Kuwait, Jones visited the museum for a book-signing party and expressed his desire to donate a copy of the book, "The 6th United States Cavalry in the Civil War," to area libraries.

The book not only tells the history of the regiment but also has a roster which includes vital information about the soldiers: when they enlisted, their occupation, height, eye and hair color and much more. Twelve books have been donated to libraries and colleges in Catoosa, Dade and Walker counties in Georgia and Hamilton and Bradley counties in Tennessee.
