Project/owner: Privateer Yacht Club.

Location: 4713 Privateer Road, Hixson.

Architect: Rob Fowler, River Street Architecture.

Square footage: 5,745 square feet, including a large wrap-around covered deck.

Contractor: Mike Kuebler, Embark Project Services, LLC.

Cost: $490,000.

Scope: The existing clubhouse, built in the 1950s, was demolished, making way for a new facility. The new clubhouse is larger, features aesthetic and practical improvements, up-to-date technology and increased usability.

History: Privateer Yacht Club was founded in July 1940 to "promote sailing in the Chickamauga Lake area and particularly in Chattanooga" and to build a marine tradition for "The Great Lakes of the South," according to its website.

Future: Privateer's new facility will enable the club to provide better support for teaching, sailing and year-round racing. Next month, the club will open racing events to guests. Membership is available to guests who engage in club events and have sponsorships from current members.

Timeline: The new club house is expected to be completed by June.
