Jim Coppinger names the four school projects Hamilton County can afford

Hamilton County Mayor Jim Coppinger says the county has enough cash to complete four of the school system's six recommended construction projects.

His recommendations for projects to be completed include:

• A replacement for Ganns Middle Valley Elementary

• An addition to Sale Creek Middle-High

• An addition to Nolan Elementary

• An addition to Wolftever Creek Elementary

That leaves out the much-anticipated replacement for the Chattanooga School for the Liberal Arts and a new middle school in the East Hamilton area.

Altogether, the mayor's four projects top $50 million in school construction costs. County Commission Chairman Fred Skillern said the body would likely vote on the projects at next week's meeting.
