Fred's store shooter gets 25-year sentence in Alabama

DeKalb County, Ala., officials say Kelly Jack Mayo, the man charged in 2012 with the shooting in Rainsville of two Fred's store employees during a robbery attempt has pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted murder.

Mayo, 47, of Fort Payne, was sentenced to 25 years in prison in a plea arrangement reached this month, according to officials with the Ninth Judicial Circuit District Attorney's office.

The shooting left one of the employees paralyzed and another with injuries limiting his ability to walk.
