School board to sue Chattanooga, claiming $11 million is owed

Members of the Hamilton County Board of Education voted Thursday to take their dispute over past-due liquor taxes with the city of Chattanooga to court.

Board members voted 8-1 to allow Board attorney Scott Bennett to sue the city in chancery court for the $11-plus million it says the city owes in unpaid liquor by the drink taxes.
