The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga softball team lost a nonconference game against Lipscomb on Thursday at Jim Frost Stadium.

The Lady Bison jumped out to a 6-0 lead and held off the Lady Mocs for an 8-4 win.

UTC (14-13) was led by Sarah Beth Roberts, who was 3-for-3, and a 2-for-4 performance by Alyssa Taylor.

Katie Henderson started in the pitching circle and allowed four runs (two earned) on five hits over four innings. Junior Taylor Deason pitched the last three innnings and allowed eight hits and four runs (three earned).

Shortstop Criket Blanco commited two errors in the loss, and catcher Anyssa Robles also had a fielding miscue.

Brianne Welch was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and Paige Neely went 3-for-4 for Lipscomb (24-4).

UTC returns to Southern Conference action this weekend with a three-game home series against Furman beginning Saturday at 1 p.m.
