Dalton police still investigating a Frederick Street shooting

Dalton police are investigating a shooting that happened near Frederick Street Saturday night.

Around 10 p.m., 21-year-old Julian Hosea Moore and his friends were walking across Meeting Street when an SUV pulled up, according to a news release. The people inside the car asked Moore's group if anyone had Phencyclidine, also known as PCP.

The group said no, according to the release. But after they continued walking away, through a field, a Hispanic man hopped out of the SUV, chased them and shot Moore in the shoulder.

Moore declined to tell investigators who was with him, but he said they left him after the shooting. Alone, he walked to a house on Frederick Street, and someone in the house called 911.

Investigators don't believe that shooting is connected to the one that happened hours later, when police say Orlando Ramirez shot two security guards at a bar, killing one.

If anyone has any information about the Moore shooting, they can call Detective Chris Tucker at at 706-278-9085, extension 165.
