Former Central High School softball pitcher Heather Randolph will be one of three inductees at the Carson-Newman Athletics Hall of Fame luncheon starting at 10 a.m. on April 5 at the Jefferson City, Tenn., university. Randolph (class of 1996) will join two standouts from the class of 1993: softball shortstop Sammi Hatcher Chafin and basketball star Leah Jackson Smith. Randolph, a 2003 inductee in the South Atlantic Conference Hall of Fame, was the softball Lady Eagles' first NCAA Division II All-American and a two-time SAC softball player of the year and female athlete of the year. She still holds league records for season and career strikeouts (259 and 662) and season and career earned run average (0.58 and 0.71).

• Huntingdon College beat host Covenant 10-1 in five innings and 8-0 in six in USA South softball Wednesday on Lookout Mountain. Morgan Lane was 2-for-3 with a double for the Lady Scots in the second game.

• Carson-Newman senior Sara Kelley from Ooltewah High led the SAC with 44 runs batted in and was second in home runs with seven going into Wednesday's softball doubleheader against Mars Hill. She was 5-for-7 with six RBIs and six runs scored as the Lady Eagles rose to 24-8 by beating Pfeiffer 7-0 and 10-2 on Sunday. Kelley tripled in the first run of the day and had two homers, a double and five RBIs in game two, when classmate Caitlyn Lance from Ridgeland completed a 3-for-6, two-RBI day.

Golf

• The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga had both Southern Conference golfers of the week: Liam Johnston and Emily McLennan. McLennan tied for seventh out of 93 golfers in the Briar's Creek Invitational with a 220, ahead of all four nationally ranked players. Johnston shot a 1-under-par 215, including one round of 68, in the Linger Longer Invitational and tied for 13th in a loaded field of 84 men.

Baseball

• Cleveland State swept visiting Georgia Highlands in a junior college baseball doubleheader Wednesday. The Cougars won the first game 9-3 and the second 12-2 in five innings. Jake Wright was among the Cougars' offensive standouts with a 4-for-6 effort in the two games with a home run and a double in the first game. He totaled two RBIs and scored three runs. Zack Janes was 3-for-6 with three RBIs. Keith Buckhalt hit two sacrifice flies in the opener for Cleveland State (15-15), then went 3-for-3 with a solo homer and a double in the second game. Chris Caffrey was 2-for-2 with a double in the nightcap, driving in three runs and scoring three. Janson Roberson had four RBIs in the second game. Jordan Whitmire earned the pitching victory in the opener, allowing seven hits and one earned run while striking out six. Reliever Kegan Frederick was the winning pitcher in the second game, throwing the final three innings and allowing no hits or runs. Georgia Highlands' Chris Baker went 4-for-4 in the first game with three doubles and he scored twice.

• Chattanooga State won 15-0 and 13-3 over Shorter University's junior varsity. Austin Godwin pitched a no-hitter for Chattanooga State in the first game. Jay Rhoten homered in that game and had four RBIs. Ryan Whitt contributed two hits and three RBIs. Brandon Day was 4-for-4 in the second game for the Tigers and Tyler Hendley had two hits and drove in four runs. Daniel Raby and Brandon Smith combined to pitch the second game for Chattanooga State.

Track & Field

• Tennessee Wesleyan's Roderick Bowman and Beth Sexton were the AAC track and field athletes of the week after setting school records last Saturday in the Emory Invitational meet in Atlanta. Bowman won the men's 10,000-meter run by 25 seconds in 31:10.06, the second best time in the NAIA as of now, and Sexton broke the TWC women's 200 record with her 26.66 sprint and was part of the 4x100 relay team that set a school standard at 49.92.
