about Clay Bennett...

The son of a career army officer, Bennett led a nomadic life, attending ten different schools before graduating in 1980 from the University of North Alabama with degrees in Art and History. After brief stints as a staff artist at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and the Fayetteville (NC) Times, he went on to serve as the editorial cartoonist for the St. Petersburg Times (1981-1994) and The Christian Science Monitor (1997-2007), before joining the staff of the ...

As opposed to what, another Clinton? Both of those options would be no good.

May 3, 2014 at 12:35 a.m.

Jeb "illegal aliens come here out of love" Bush, vs Hillary "what difference does it make at this point", or, "i aint no ways tired" Clinton. That's the best we can do?

May 3, 2014 at 12:37 a.m.

Sooner or later there's gotta be another option besides the GOP and Democrat Party. To end up with Clinton vs Bush would be shockingly pathetic. The wife of a former president, actually she was president already since someone had to be when Bubba was out trolling for interns, and the second a third member of a family? What the hell is this, Argentina? Jeb Bush couldn't beat Hillary Clinton, surely the GOP Would know this. Especially since he's sliding more and more to the left. Ridiculous.

We must have two royal families competing for succession to the throne. Will it be queen Hillary or King Bush? Is the beautiful daughter, all royalty is called beautiful even if ugly as a mud fence, old enough in eight years?

Unfortunately the two parties and the states have made it too difficult and too expensive for a third party to challenge them.

The republicans want Clinton to run, but as she has more skeletons than a grave she'll never survive the primaries.

The Democrats want Bush to run, but the thought of another Bush is to revolting to even contemplate; thus he won't survive the primaries either.

The whole country needs to do what Hawkeye Pierce did in the TV series MASH; stand on a table and yell, "WE WANT SOMETHING ELSE! WE WANT SOMETHING ELSE!!"

Taking a look at all the recent polls, Hillary would be elected, nationwide, over every horse the Republicans run.

Hillary has remained out front for more than a year, her electability unwavering.

The only state, so far, that shows a Republican front-runner is the State of Colorado, and they like Rand Paul, by one percentage point.

There is no way to find a consistent Republican nominee, because it appears to be very much like a NASCAR race, with one running a few laps out front, then another takes the lead, with no one consistently leading the race. It changes almost every week.

Jeb's popularity has very much improved since he made that infamous statement regarding illegal immigrants, which has made a couple of you squirm.

Take heed of that, for it proves clearly that only a moderate Republican has half a chance of becoming President, and that is only if the man is being sincere when he makes such statements.

Those of you believing that Hillary has too much "baggage" and will never survive the primaries, are not paying attention to what MOST Americans think about the woman and are expressing in polls taken on a state-by-state basis, or on a nationwide basis.

This is Hillary's race to win. It's going to take a miracle for anyone, Republican or Democrat, to beat her.

As much as I support Barack Obama, I will breath a sigh of relief when the man leaves the White House.

No American President, that I am aware of, has had to endure more unjustified criticism for simply being the President.

Where this country was when he walked in and where we are now is vastly different, and yet some of you people act as if nothing at all has improved since the man has been in office.

Of course, the truth is that this nation is doing far better than it was, and there are solid numbers to prove it.

The Republicans have been sitting on their collective asses for five years, doing nothing, but spending most of their time trying to tear down President Obama and anyone who is associated with him.

Do they truly believe that the American people do not see all this and are sick and tired of it?

ObamaCare is not going anywhere. The with hunts are going nowhere.

What are Republicans going to run on and offer the American people for any reason to even consider any of them as productive and viable candidates?

"I tried" just isn't going to cut it.

This year, the election may well be peppered with the election of some fresh, new faces, because people are tired of the political games that have gridlocked this nation.

The Democratic party of the late ‘Bush Dark’(Obama) years has partially changed to the party of the likes of Elizabeth Warren or Russ Feingold. By contrast, Hillary Clinton has always been quite comfy with Wall Street, telling Goldman Sachs executives in a paid speech (that alone will kill her chances) that she found banker-bashing foolish. The Clinton Foundation is a favor trading factory with transactional politics alongside big corporations. It’s surprising that more Democrats with presidential ambitions aren’t licking their lips in anticipation. But then it’s way too early yet.

The playbook to beat Hillary was successfully executed by Obama in 2008. All of the same criticisms - ‘manufactured, untrustworthy, corrupt, hawk’, and more, are still in play for 2016.

No, she won’t get through the primaries.

I don't have a clue what kind of President she will be.

My prediction is strictly based on current and past polling results.

Most Americans apparently believe that she has what it takes to lead this nation.

I'm on the fence in that department, like most who participate in this forum.

As things stand now, it's going to take a very persuasive and convincing candidate to beat her, and the burning question then becomes...who?

I was amazed to read that Condoleeza Rice was asked not to speak at a graduation ceremony the other day At Rutgers University after students protested her pending appearance.

All this talk about Americans having short memories doesn't necessarily hold water, all the time.

The Bush Family name has become synonymous with war. For that reason alone, I think Jeb Bush has about a 25% chance of being elected President, if he makes it through the primaries.

The Republicans have no viable candidate at this time. All they seem to have are reruns whom everyone yawns at when they see them, including those who vote for them.

Among Republican voters, there is no solid candidate that Republican voters will agree on.

The only hope the Republicans have, is if Hillary decides not to run, if she dies, or is caught up in a scandal of immense proportions.

And the chances of that are quite remote.

She's a shoe in, unless the Republican Party can find a Barack Obama among their ranks, who can woo a nation.

The person who addresses the ever growing police state we're in, and is willing to take it on has my vote. So far who is doing that? I would say Rand Paul. NO Dem or Jeb Bush/Christie-like Republican will do it.

Benghazi will never go away, Alprova. Why should it? Reverse it and have it be Republican in office and what would happen? The kiss ass media will not touch BO because he's black and leftist. BO is out of his league, and is living in la la land.

THE vital issue going forward will be the growing police state. Young voters are very, very concerned with intrusion into their private lives/being watched. Anyone with teenagers will back me up on that. Hillary Clinton, is just some old bag to most young voters. Other than the novelty of having a woman as POTUS, what else does she have to offer? Nothing.

May 4, 2014 at 11:12 a.m.

She cannot handle a tough question without becoming angry. Watching her sagging face scrunch up in anger and then scolding is the last thing anyone wants to see. Grandma with her finger pointing in your face.

May 4, 2014 at 11:16 a.m.

Hellary has nothing to offer except anger and a wide variety of colorful pantsuits. What, we should we vote for Jeb because he's the smartest of the Bushes according to Carl Rove? We're supposed to believe Hellary is the "smartest woman in the world"? By what standards, John McCains'? You have to be an utter ass, stupidly loyal, or insane to vote for Hellary or Jeb.

The presidential election of 2016 will be Hillary's to lose. Those of you who are saying that the "sins" of Obama or Benghazi and her personal past or her connection to Bill will be an obstacle for her and people are going to remember all that in the voting booth are talking nonsense. If she loses the election it will be due strictly to something that happens between now and then, not anything related to her past. It is only in the minds of you birther-equivalent idiots that Benghazi is any kind of big deal. Most Americans have given it its rightful place in history: an unfortunate event but one that was not necessarily Obama's - and certainly not Hillary's! - fault.

Having said that, you Republicans/conservatives should not complain too much if/when Hillary gets elected. She will give you that which you most desire - an administration highly favorable to corporate interests. She is and will be in the back pocket of big business even more than Obama, if that's possible. She will most assuredly NOT rock the corporate boat in any way. And for that reason alone I refuse to vote for her.

Bernie Sanders is hinting at a run himself and if he does I will be behind him 100%. He and Elizabeth Warren are practically the only two significant politicians in Washington telling it like it is, totally unafraid to speak truth to the corrupting power of big business and the oligarchs. They are laser focused on representing the people over special interests. The unfortunate thing about Bernie, however, is that he has the word "socialist" attached to his name, which he has willingly admitted to being. And that in itself will probably be sufficient grounds to make him unelectable. In the minds of conservatives, being a socialist in America is as bad as being an atheist, so retarded are they (conservatives) in their thinking.

But if Bernie, or someone as unabashedly progressive as he is, does indeed run, I hope that my fellow progressives will likewise give him/her your vote. If we are to have a snowball's chance in hell of bringing this oligarchy its knees and returning this country to what it rightfully should be - a democratic republic with a government of, by, and for the PEOPLE - it is essential that we have a real populist/progressive president not afraid to stand up to the greedy fat cats and big-business bast#rds who have been pulling the strings in government for way too long. The situation is dire, both nationally and globally, and we can no longer afford to keep voting for the lesser of two evils. A vote for Hillary or ANY Republican will just be business as usual, or worse, in the White House.

"Well, Al, the fact is Hillary hasn't even announced yet."

The fact is NO candidate has announced they are running. Do you REALLY think she will not run?

"She probably will, but she's still trading on her time in public service and peddling her husband's influence."

As if others were not doing the same thing.

"The dynamic for Hillary always changes when she actually moves from outside the ring to inside. Then she has to answer "uncomfortable" questions about her personal ethics, finances, and her relationship to serial horndog Slick Willie."

You act as if every candidate doesn't control their crowds. Every one of them control who gets to ask those "tough" questions. Do you really think that one Republican isn't going to limit their exposure to exclude left-wing voters, eager to pin them to a wall?

"That's generally when the casual voter takes a look at her and realizes that the local jail has a better class of inmate than the front runner for the Demo-nod."

You wish.

"Add that to the fact that most of her SCANDALS are older than half the voters and she looks a lot less presidential than you seem to think. She's what, 85-87 years old? Yep, she really connects with twenty somethings."

We'll see. Twenty something's are polled as well and she polls very well among them too.

Not much to look forward to. She won't run. Polls shmolls, she's not running. She can boss people around without being in the WH. C'mon, your math is better than that. She is 66 years old now. If she wins in 2016, she will be 68 years old. If she serves eight years, she will be 76 years old.

That's two years younger than Ronald Reagan was when he was elected President.

"..."she's worked her entire life for this moment" That's a scary thought, it says a lot about her."

I don't know what it says to you, but to me, the woman has had a dream and she might just see it come to fruition.

The woman is a life-long politician, every step taken to get her closer to that goal.

She may have missed the mark in 2008, which would have been prime-time for her, but nothing appears to be standing in her way this time.

Just checked the monday morning polls and she's outpolling every Democrat by no less than thirty points, and every potential Republican by no less than five points. Now that's nationwide.

Of the states actively taking polls this early, Rand Paul is the only Republican outpolling Hillary in Colorado.

Conservative,

A) How did you come to the conclusion the Supreme Court Justices you singled out are “anti Christians”?

B) By what logic do you construe that ” Mr. Bennett will have a depiction of the Constitution being shredded shortly?”

The ruling is that government meetings can include an opening prayer without running afoul of the Constitution. That does not however make it Constitutional by default.

Easy123 probably had an easier time with ”3rd tier law school” than you’re having with 3rd grade elementary school.

Nancy Pelosi wants to honor Cinco De Mayo by passing Amnesty for illegal aliens. That's good. Let's all mobilize to make that happen!

I guess we should just let illegal aliens in so we can see who they are. Just like we should pass a bill to see what's in it.

Genuine a-hole.

Aw now c'mon Z-man.

You know amnesty is going to happen.

Rounding them all up and sending them back is cost prohibitive.

Rubber stamp them. Make 'em pay taxes, and it's a win/win for the nation.

I say we have a battle royal between any immigrant wanting to come to the United States and the xenophobic mouth-breathers on here. Let's see who REALLY wants to be an American!

Also, for anyone wondering about the 2016 Election polling:

And I don't think those are the polls Romney was using in 2014.

Hey ConMan, when you keep posting the same quotes from Alprova over and over again, what are you expecting to happen? You disagree with him, big effing deal. Just about everyone disagrees with what you post, but I don't see anyone mimicking your childish behavior. You aren't going to convert anyone to your thinking pal, just give it up.

Fister, just read where Campfield compared "Obamacare to the Holocaust". Must of made you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
