Fred Skillern's loss for reelection highlights Hamilton County Commission races

Hamilton County Commissioner Fred Skillern's loss for reelection in the Republican primary in District 1 to Randy Fairbanks was among the key races locally today.

Randy Fairbanks took 1,249 votes to Skillern's 1,198 votes in the Republican primary. There is no Democrat in the race in the August general election, meaning Fairbanks will take the seat.

In other races, Sabrena Turner captured the District 7 Republican primary for the Hamilton County Commission, garnering 1,966 votes while Phil Smartt took 744 and Perry Perkins took 647.

In the District 4 commission race, incumbent Warren Mackey took the Democratic primary. Mackey captured 889 votes, Pam Ladd took 305 votes and Kirkland Robinson received 140 votes. There is no Republican opposition in the August general election.

Incumbent Greg Beck easily won the Democratic primary for the District 5 seat on the county commission. Beck won 1,597 votes, while Isiah Hester took 724 votes. There is no Republican opposition in the August general election

Incumbent Tim Boyd won the Republican primary for the District 8 seat on the commission. Boyd took 883 votes, while Curtis Adams captured 674 votes. Brent Lambert captured 468 votes.

Boyd will face Democrat Kenny Smith in the August general election.
