Duncan, Haslam to address education writers at Vanderbilt

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan and Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam are among the featured speakers at an upcoming meeting of the Education Writers Association being held at Vanderbilt University.

More than 400 journalists are expected to attend the groups' 67th annual meeting May 18-20. Other speakers include American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten and Columbia Journalism School Professor Nicholas Lemann.

The meeting will also include an award banquet to bestow the National Awards for Education Reporting and honor the recipient of the Fred M. Hechinger Grand Prize for Distinguished Education Reporting.

The event is co-hosted by Vanderbilt's Peabody College of education and human development and the American Educational Research Association.
