about Clay Bennett...

The son of a career army officer, Bennett led a nomadic life, attending ten different schools before graduating in 1980 from the University of North Alabama with degrees in Art and History. After brief stints as a staff artist at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and the Fayetteville (NC) Times, he went on to serve as the editorial cartoonist for the St. Petersburg Times (1981-1994) and The Christian Science Monitor (1997-2007), before joining the staff of the ...

At this point in time what difference does it make? There is a long answer to that question. Who ordered the military to stand down? Could the military have gotten there in time to help? It doesn't matter, Americans were being attacked, they should have responded and troops should have been hunting the assailants on a find and kill mission. The truth may be more embarrassing than criminal. Hillary for POTUS, why? She may not just walk in if the DNC will allow a competent opponent to run in the primary.

The country better hope the demos offer a strong leader as POTUS because the stupid pubs will shoot themselves in the foot or other body part and will likely not stand a chance.

People are too scared to vote for a third party candidate such as a libertarian.

All the investigations into Benghazi will never produce what the Republicans hope it will.

Every "explosive" witness has been shot down and even the other day, a Republican stated that one of the "witnesses" was in no position to know a damn thing he testified to.

They are beating a dead horse and if the American people don't know it by now, by this coming November, they will know for certain that all the Republicans will have produced is a witch hunt that has wasted time and money.

They truly believe that they will tear down Hillary through this idiotic investigation. They know the woman will assume the Presidency, if they can't plant some doubt in the minds of the American voters.

In the meantime, the Republicans continue to sit on their hands and do nothing they were ELECTED to do.

The desperation is oozing from every one of their pores.

This election is going to be fun. Democrats are outraising Republicans, double in many areas of the country. Democrats are going to pound home the message, "what have the Republicans been doing for four years?"

What gives you any reason to believe if you vote them back in, that they are going to do anything but attempt to dismantle ObamaCare, Rename public buildings, and cram through anti-abortion bills?

The polls tell the real tale. Some long-time Republicans are fighting for their lives to remain in office.

I for one, hope the Republicans continue to waste time with these witch hunts. They will backfire on them, big time come November.

Benghazi is a circus because of GOP's behavior on it. I'm not saying the White House handled it properly, but they have turned this into a fiasco similar to Obama's birth certificate. The GOP is pressing this to appease hard-right talk radio personalities. That is just as disgraceful to families of the victims as blaming the attacks on a video.

What we have here with Benghazi is a case of where there's smoke there's fire. This administration lies like it's a bodily function, and the media gleefully covers it up. Obama and his PR spinmeisters are always working overtime. The press - or lack of it- is as much to blame for this ongoing story. Had they asked the administration the tough questions upfront, they might have been able to force the truth out sooner? I get asked tougher questions at a McDonald’s Drive-thru. Once again, the media lapped up Obama lies, piled dirt over them, and mocked anyone who kept the story alive. The Rhodes email shows the administration lied, were shown up for the liars that they are. They are doing the same thing with the IRS scandal, which is far worse and far more chilling on free speech. Remember Oblamea stating: “We only changed one word in the Benghazi talking points.” “The War on Terrorism is over.” “Benghazi violence was caused by an internet video & demonstrations.” Please...Benghazi is about a President lying, about media helping him to lie, and about the Oval Office and "Free Press" working together to conceal facts and manage the image of this President. It is a scandal, one if many.

JD, comparing Obamacare to Nazism comes from the GOP, not me, bubba.

"Democrats bragging about the number of mandatory sign ups for Obamacare is like Germans bragging about the number of mandatory sign ups for 'train rides' for Jews in the 40s." - Sen. Stacey Campfield (R), TN.

And then there's this from Idaho Senator Sheryl Nuxol (R): "The insurance companies are creating their own tombs. Much like the Jews boarding the trains to concentration camps, private insurers are used by the feds to put the system in place because the federal government has no way to set up the exchange."

There have also been comparisons made by Republicans between Nazism and the government's attempts to reign in for-profit colleges, help college students secure lower interest loans, and help with family planning. So, when Republicans make those snide, fallacious claims, it's perfectly acceptable to you, apparently, and you say nothing; but when I or some other lefty mentions the fact that they make those disgusting comments, we're just getting in our "obligatory Nazism" comment? Man, you manage to find ways to keep on making a bigger a-hole of yourself.

Rank & file cranky know nothings say this is (or are desperately making it) a "smoking gun" of a White House cover-up on Benghazi. But is it?

1.First things first: this memo should have been released earlier, and conservatives are fully justified in asking why it took a FOIA request to finally shake it loose.

2.That said, as an adviser for "strategic communication"—what the rest of us call spin—Ben Rhodes' job is explicitly political, providing guidance on how to put the administration's foreign policy actions in the best light.

3.Nine hours before Rhodes sent his email, the CIA had provided its assessment of what caused the attacks in Benghazi: "We believe based on currently available information that the attacks in Benghazi were spontaneously inspired by the protests at the US Embassy in Cairo and evolved into a direct assault against the US consulate and subsequently its annex."

4.The Cairo protests, in turn, were inspired by the YouTube video "Innocence of Muslims," which is why Rhodes mentioned the video in his memo.

5.As it happens, it turned out that there were no protests earlier in the day in Benghazi—but at the time, that was what the CIA believed.

6.However, multiple sources—including McClatchy, Al Jazeera, the New York Times, and then deputy CIA director Michael Morell—have confirmed that anger toward the YouTube video did play a role in motivating the initial attacks.

7.Multiple sources also confirm that that the Benghazi attacks were opportunistic—organized hastily to take advantage of the Cairo protests, not planned days or weeks ahead of time.

8.Susan Rice, in all her Sunday show appearances, was properly cautious about the role of the video, the nature of the attacks, and the fact that everything she said was tentative and based on "the best information we have to date."

9.Like any administration, the Obama White House wanted to put the best face on its Middle East policy, and there's no question that their public statements were designed to do just that.

10.Nevertheless, the Republican theory that Obama was afraid to blame Benghazi on terrorism has never really made any sense; there's simply never been any evidence of anything more than a fairly routine amount of spin in the aftermath of the attacks.

IT’S THE SMOKING GUN! A huge Obama cover-up? Not effing Hardly. Even George Will doesn't believe that, but Jack Dennis is sure about it!! The video really did play a role in the Cairo protests and then the Benghazi attacks, and there was never anything wrong with saying so. It's bizarre that Republicans think this proves anything more damning than that. But then again, This is their last ditch attempt at, We gotcha now ya Kenyan Socialist! Which will FAIL - like all their other childish witch hunts & obstructionisms.

(Follow-up to my 10:19am post.) Some just recently sent me the following, regarding the latest Benghazi investigation: “With Republicans having no shame in dragging their bodies through the mud for political gain!” I responded: With Democrats having no shame in dragging their bodies through the mud for political gain to make sure that Obama wins the election in November!” (2012) I’m reading several liberal tactics on this site such as: Republicans lied the US into a war that killed and injured tens of thousands of US soldier and millions of innocent lives. Etc. My response is “Two wrongs never make a right!”
I’m also hearing/seeing the old liberal tactic/lib speak; "That was a long time ago." What difference does it make?" "Dude, that was two years ago." The libs are upset because this probe will get attention, because the water carrying press will have to cover this one. Also the mid-term elections are coming up, and this probe, along with Oblamea-Nocare, the libs are very uneasy. The next big worry is Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.), He has never lost a case. I doubt he'll lose this one. The libs really have to be scared of this guy. "Congress has concluded that the military was never told to "stand down," and that assets such as fighter jets in Italy or other help weren't ready to respond in time for the two attacks that occurred eight hours apart."

https://news.yahoo.com/leading-republican-challenges-benghazi-testimony-184049306--politics.html

"It is correct that Issa poses a series of questions, but his repeated use of the phrase “stand down” and his personalizing of the alleged actions (“Secretary Clinton;” “Leon”) leave a distinct impression that either Clinton or Obama delivered some sort of instruction to Panetta to not act as forcefully as possible. He even incorrectly asserts that not a single order was given to use any DOD asset. One could argue the response was slow, bungled or poorly handled. But Issa is crossing a line when he suggests there was no response — or a deliberate effort to hinder it."

Clearly, no matter how long this crap goes on, some will never see anything but what they believe to be a conspiracy.

And no matter what is related in this forum on the subject, it will never reach to the feet of Hillary or Barack.

So spew all the ridiculous accusations you must to feel self-important, for all the good it will ever do.

Four people died because Ambassador Stevens made a horrible decision to be where he was warned not to be on that fateful day.

He additionally turned down offered additional security, not once, but twice leading up to that day.

What other evidence do people believe will be forthcoming, if they keep digging in to the events of September 11, 2013?

I say take a crap in one hand and wish in the other and see which one will be filled first.

America is yawning. The Republicans are wasting their time.

Considering the fact that you said quote: “But I've never seen you or any other Lefties on here condemn the Hilldebeast OR The Messiah for their despicable lying to those "families". Standing in front of the caskets,” shows that you don’t know who, what, when or where.

Additionally, as you have such a strong conviction that Clinton ‘despicably lied,’ your follow up statement quote: “Gassy, what was the date of that statement?” is further proof that you have NO IDEA what you're talking about, nor evidence to contradict GaussianInteger’s 3:16 post of Hillary Clinton’s statement. You would think with the ardent accusations you so readily spew, you would know word for word, when and where the despicable lies she –or –Obama said. But you don’t.

A sandwich board prevaricator you’re good at, as a lawyer – FAIL!

Rat, did you have any courses in reading comprehension? The Hilldisgrace statement I asked Gassy about was made on 9/14/12. 9 freakin 14, dip wad.. Everyone in the world knew the video had nothing to do with the attack. And yet, Hilldisgrace just kept on harping about it. You might think about getting a refund from that community jr. college you attend zygote brain.

As to the conversation Woods had with Hillary Clinton shortly after his son’s death, he said:

“When I was approached by Hillary Clinton at the coming-home ceremony of the bodies at Andrews Air Force Base, and she said, ‘We’re going to go out and we’re going to prosecute that person that made the video,’ I knew that she wasn’t telling the truth, and I think the whole world knows that now. She’s smarter than I am; she probably knew that well.”

Of course, Mr. Woods, being the gentleman he is, said “she wasn’t telling the truth,” when he knows in his heart she looked him straight in the eye and told him a bald-faced lie about the death of his son. “Smarter” than you are, Mr. Woods? I doubt it. And not a tenth of your integrity.

Remove him and his staff from that woefully unprotected outpost, and nothing would have happened.

It was his decision and his alone to have been there and to have disregarded all the warnings not to be there.

You cannot exempt him from being a party to the deaths of the four men.

Sit around and blame Hillary and Obama if it makes you feel better, but anyone with a brain not filled with blind hate for Democrats knows that finger pointing towards people who had nothing to do with those four men being where they were on that fateful day, is quite silly.

Down-playing the incident to preserve one's office, if done at all, is politics at it's finest. Using the deaths of four people to play politics to try to obtain votes is politics at it's worst.

The Republicans are using the deaths of those four to play a game of political football, and it will backfire on them come November.

Highly amusing. Carry on.
