U.S. GOP Senate hopeful Joe Carr will be the featured speaker Thursday at the Chattanooga Tea Party's monthly meeting.
A state representative from Lascassas, Carr is challenging U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., in the Aug. 7 GOP primary election.
The three-term state lawmaker is appealing to the GOP's tea party and hard-right base.
The Chattanooga Tea Party calls Carr a "strong advocate for limited government, the Constitution and states' rights" and says he has established a "steady reputation for life and the 2nd Amendment" as well as tougher laws targeting illegal immigrants.
The meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. at the Century Club Banquet Hall, 3221 Harrison Pike (off Access Road, just south of the Highway 153-Amnicola Highway intersection, next to the Lighting Gallery).
Attendees are asked to bring a nonperishable canned good item to support the Chattanooga Area Food Bank.
Please RSVP at Chattanooga Tea Party's Facebook page.
