Boat crash injures 4 on Lake Lanier

GAINESVILLE, Ga. - Authorities say a woman has been charged with boating under the influence in a collision that left four people injured on Lake Lanier.

A boat the woman was piloting crashed into another vessel just after dark Sunday, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Authorities say one person suffered a broken leg, while the other injuries were less severe.

Capt. Thomas Barnard, a law enforcement officer with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, said 39-year-old Christina Jennings was charged with boating under the influence. It was not immediately known if she had an attorney.

Jennings and her passenger weren't injured. Three of the people who did get hurt were taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.

Board censures Cleveland attorney McIntosh

CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Attorney Brent J. McIntosh, of Cleveland was publicly censured Friday by the Tennessee Supreme Court, according to a news release.

The Board of Professional Responsibility filed a petition for discipline against McIntosh pursuant to Rule 9, Rules of the Supreme Court, the release from the Board of Professional Responsibility states. A hearing panel determined that, while representing a client, McIntosh threatened to present a criminal charge against an unrepresented person for the purpose of obtaining an advantage in a civil matter.

McIntosh's actions violated Rules of Professional Conduct 4.4(a) (2), Respect for the Rights of Third Persons; and 8.4(a), Misconduct, according to the release.

A public censure is a rebuke and warning to the attorney but does not affect the attorney's ability to practice law.

Woman charged with cutting baby

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Police say a Huntsville woman has been charged with attempted murder after she cut her 3-month-old baby with a butcher knife.

Al.com reported the infant girl was taken to Children's Hospital of Birmingham in critical condition after the attack late Saturday.

Sgt. Mark Roberts, a Huntsville police spokesman, said the child's mother, 31-year-old Natasha Dean Townsend, was charged. He said police believe she intended to kill her baby and then herself.

A neighbor, Promise Shorter, described Townsend as an intelligent woman who held down a job that paid well and was in a committed relationship with her daughter's father.

Shorter said, "She's a good person ... I just think she snapped."

Early voting wraps up Friday

ATLANTA - Early voting for Georgia's May 20 primary election ends Friday, according to a news release from Secretary of State Brian Kemp's office.

Georgia residents can find early voting locations in their county of registration at http://www.mvp.sos.ga.gov.

The "My Voter Page" application, available for mobile devices on Apple and Android platforms, also provides Georgia voters with tools. They can view their specific sample ballot, find their polling locations, check voter registration status and track the status of their absentee ballot.
