Third-grade students at Tracie Ellis' classroom at Tunnel Hill Elementary School transformed the school's cafeteria into a wax museum Friday when they portrayed historical figures they have studied this year.
Twenty one students, in period dress as Paul Revere, George Washington, Frederick Douglass, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Thurgood Marshall, Lyndon Johnson, among others, stood as still as statues as parents and other visitors toured the mini museum. Visitors could push an "on" button and the students would recite speeches specific to their character. Besides the historical figures students have studied, other notable figures, including Jackie Robinson, Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks and Thomas Edison were portrayed.
