Moral Monday rally today
Dr. Mary Headrick, Democratic candidate for the 3rd Congressional District, invites the public to a Moral Monday rally supporting access to health care.
The rally is set for noon today at the McMinn County Courthouse in Athens, Tenn., and is hosted by the McMinn County Democratic Party.
In a news release, Headrick said that "Tennesseans are dying needlessly because they lose access to health care while the state is losing hundreds of millions of dollars in federal funds."
Headrick also has claimed an endorsement from the Tennessee AFL-CIO based on her support for raising the minimum wage and ending tax breaks for corporations that outsource factory jobs overseas.

Mosley to kick off campaign
Karitsa Mosley, Democratic candidate for Hamilton County School Board District 5, will hold her campaign kickoff from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at 3204 Brainerd Road, located between the Missionary Ridge Tunnels and The Comedy Catch.

Thurman will address women
School board member Rhonda Thurman will speak about Common Core education standards at the regular meeting of the Tennessee Valley Republican Women on Tuesday.
Thurman is in her third term representing District 1 on the Hamilton County Board of Education.
The public is invited, especially teachers and parents with school-age children.
The meeting starts at 6 p.m. at GOP headquarters, 1428 Chestnut St., Suite E. The red-brick building is across from Finley Stadium, and parking is available.

Bradley Tea Party meets
Karen Bracken will be the speaker at the regular meeting of the Bradley County Tea Party on Tuesday. Bracken's topic will be what happened in this year's legislative session.
There also will be discussion of the Thrive 2055 regional plan, as well as next steps ahead of the Aug. 7 county general and state primary elections.
The meeting is set for 6:30 p.m. at the Bradley County Courthouse, 155 Broad St., Cleveland, Tenn.

Pachyderms chief to visit
John Wiemann, national president of the Pachyderms, will be the special guest at the June 9 meeting of the Pachyderm Club of Hamilton County.
The party urges all Republicans to save the date and plan to be there.
