Gibby Gilbert III leads after two rounds of the Sunbelt Senior Tour event named for his father at Eagle Bluff - the Gibby Gilbert Senior Invitational.
Gilbert III shot a 2-over-par 74 Tuesday, which has him at 4 under heading into the final round. He leads Floridians Roger Rowland and Tim Balmer by one and two shots.
Miami native Jim Chancey leads the super-senior division at 2 under, one better than Kissimmee resident Dave Rummells.
In a recent low-ball event at Valleybrook, Pier Morgan did something he's done hundreds of times before -- just to a greater extent. The 79-year-old Morgan beat his age by 11 shots with a 68. He's been playing golf for 70 years and first shot his age at 65.
John Lambert scored the fifth hole-in-one of his life Sunday during the Signal Mountain Invitational. He aced No. 14 from 140 yards with a 9-iron while playing with Mike Granato and Ron Johnson.
"It hit, it rolled and disappeared," Lambert said. "I'm like, 'Boom!' Me and the guys high-fived."
Bobby Schubert sank his second hole-in-one Saturday during the Signal Mountain event. He aced No. 3 from 104 yards with a gap wedge while playing with Larry Hopkins, Wayne Palmer and Bobby Morrison III.
"It bounced twice and disappeared," Schubert said. "I'm not a real excitable guy, but that was fun."
