TSSAA gives unbeaten Ooltewah No. 3 seed

Despite its unbeaten regular-season record, Ooltewah was granted only a No. 3 seed in its Class 5A quadrant of the TSSAA football playoffs.

The TSSAA playoffs for all classifications begin Friday, Nov. 7. Games in all of the eighth classifications are to begin at 7 p.m. local time.

The Owls, who put together their school's first unbeaten regular season since 2006, are seeded behind unbeatens Oak Ridge and Rhea County, also undefeated this year. If Ooltewah and Rhea win their games next week, they would meet the following week.

Cleveland and Soddy-Daisy also made the 5A bracket. Cleveland will host this week while Soddy-Daisy drew Oak Ridge, the quadrant's top seed. If each should win, they'd meet the next week in a rematch of their regular season game won by Soddy-Daisy.

There are 22 Chattanooga area teams in the Tennessee playoffs including Copper Basin and South Pittsburg in Class 1A, Boyd-Buchanan, Marion County, Meigs County and Whitwell in 2A; Bledsoe County, Chattanooga Christian, Grundy County, McMinn Central, Notre Dame and Red Bank in 3A; Central, Hixson and Signal Mountain in 4A; Cleveland, Ooltewah, Rhea County and Soddy-Daisy in 5A; Bradley Central and Walker Valley in 6A; and Baylor and McCallie in Division II-AA.
