Only about a two dozen of Georgia's 159 counties had partial results in by 7:40 p.m.

Republicans in a handful of key races, including the contested races for Senator and Governor, led Democrats by a roughly two-to-one margin in the small, rural counties that reported early.

Georgia has about 5.1 million registered voters, according to the Secretary of State.

The Times Free Press will provide updates throughout the night.

The states that closed polls at 7 p.m. are Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, South Carolina, Vermont and Virginia.
