Creative Discovery Museum rolls out its next seasonal exhibit with the best news that kids can get during the school year: Snow Day!

Nevermind that this one's happening on a Saturday. Snow is snow.

The cold-weather fun that accompanies the opening of the "Winter Wonders" exhibit includes a blast of artificial snow, visits by Jack Frost and Suzy Snowflake, snowflake tortillas to munch on and "Let It Snow" shows throughout opening day, Nov. 15.

The museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Snow Day activities are scheduled from noon to 4 p.m.

"Snow Day gives kids a brilliant opportunity to engage all of their senses and actively participate in creative winter fun," says Amy Barrett, the museum's experience manager. "Snow Day is becoming a tradition with families as they celebrate the beginning of winter and kick off the holiday season at the museum ... ."

In addition to all the snowy festivities Saturday, children will get the chance to watch Capitol City Opera Company perform "Hansel and Gretel" in the museum auditorium. The Atlanta-based troupe presents fully staged and costumed operas specifically designed for children. Five young members of the audience will get to participate in nonspeaking, costumed roles.

Although Snow Day lasts only a day, the frozen fun of "Winter Wonders" continues through Thursday, Jan. 8. Children can play dress up in the cozy cottage, "make" gingerbread cookies, take a stroll through the winter forest and spend time in the cozy reading area. Guests will also be able to explore the mysteries of the "blizzard" pool noodle maze and practice their sliding skills in the newly enlarged "ice skating" area.
