Thanksgiving Shopping at Chattanooga Market

This Sunday's Thanksgiving Market will be the last Chattanooga Market at First Tennessee Pavilion until next spring, but it won't be the last of the season.

"We are closed the Sunday after Thanksgiving, and then we move to the [Chattanooga] Convention Center," says spokeswoman Melissa Siragusa.

The indoor Holiday Market will be expanded to Saturdays and Sundays leading up to Christmas, Dec. 6-7, 13-14 and 20-21.

Siragusa says the Thanksgiving Market is a chance to pick up locally produced foods, including some fruits and vegetables, for Thursday's big feast.

Offerings include fresh poultry and fowl (no artificially injected turkeys) from Mahada Farm, homemade pumpkin pies from Daylilies and fresh cranberry sauce from Rosemary Knoll Edible Delights.

Alchemy Spice has a Poultry Blend to season a turkey and a Cajun Blend for a Southern twist on cornbread stuffing.

Bluff View Bakery has yeast rolls, Everyday Eclectic has harvest-spiced organic honey and HoneyBerry Farm will bring pecan honey jelly. Southern Sugar Sisters can supply a delicious bread pudding with bourbon sauce.

Bitler Bistro is offering take-and-bake sweet potato casserole, dressing and twice-baked potatoes. Advance reservation is recommended (see the Bitler Bistro Food Truck page on Facebook).

Rolling J's can provide an entire Thanksgiving meal to be picked up the day before Thanksgiving. You can place orders at the Thanksgiving Market for an oven-roasted Cajun turkey breast and all of the trimmings, including baked cheddar mac and cheese.

"We have breads, cheeses, fresh pasta and several vendors making artisan foods like tapenade, chutneys, pesto sauces and so much more," Siragusa says.

There are also baked desserts from pies to cakes to cookies, says Siragusa, noting that many vendors will take custom orders for the holidays.

Other vendors will have art, fashions, jewelry, woodwork, handmade soaps, yard art, birdhouses, ironwork and other giftable items, giving visitors "an opportunity to start their holiday shopping by buying local before the craziness of Black Friday," she says.
