City unveils name of Chattanooga's new free public Wi-Fi network

After a public competition, the name of Chattanooga's new free Wi-Fi service has been unveiled by the city.

The clear winner, with 755 votes and 48 percent of the vote, was NoogaNet, according to a news release from the city.

The competition was announced in September. The secure network will soon be available in city-owned spaces and city-owned buildings.

In second place was ChattaFi with 398 votes. Chattanooga Public WiFi had 176 votes. Chattanooga Connect had 130 votes. ChattaWifi had 108 votes.

Citizens made more than 900 total suggestions, the release stated.
