Emileigh Swafford had 26 points and five steals as Lee University defeated visiting Tennessee Temple 80-64 in women's basketball Thursday night in Cleveland, and the Lee men won 105-74. Carrie Cheeks had 17 points, Erin Walsh scored 12, Alex Swope passed for seven assists and Shelby Brown grabbed eight rebounds for the Lady Flames (2-0). For the Lady Crusaders (2-2), Amanda Rector had 20 points and eight rebounds, Kristina Pumpure and Bree Smith scored 11 points each and Angel Foster had 10 points and nine rebounds. The Flames rose to 4-0 as Chase Cullen scored 20 points, Cory Billingsley had 17 points and seven rebounds and Tyquan Roberts, Stedmon Ford, Jervon Johnson and Isaac Merlan scored 13, 12, 11 and 10 points, Ford with six assists. Emmanuel Rounds led Temple with 15 points.

Volleyball

• The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga announced Wednesday the signing of Virginians Ally Ford and Emily Plumlee to volleyball letters of intent. Ford is an all-state outside hitter with three state championships at Flint Hill High School in Oakton, Va. She is a two-time All-Met player, as chosen by the Washington Post, and the 2013 Division I Virginia Independent School Athletic Association player of the year. "Ally is a winner," UTC coach Travis Filar said in a school release, calling her a "great attacker" and a "tough, resilient player that shows great leadership." Plumlee was a three-time All-Tidewater pick and a 2013 all-stater for Hickory High School in Chesapeake. "She is incredibly gifted, super dynamic on the floor and a great student," Filar said. "She is going to add so much to our middle/right side position." He plans to add two recruits in the spring.

• Rachel Harper from Boyd-Buchanan had 16 kills and four aces and Kristen Pickett from Cleveland High School had 38 assists and 17 digs as Carson-Newman edged USC Aiken in a close 3-0 match (26-24, 29-27, 25-23) in the first round of the NCAA Division II volleyball tournament Thursday at Wingate, N.C. Carson-Newman is 27-6; Aiken is 21-9.

Wrestling

• UTC announced six wrestling signees Thursday morning, including Tennesseans Chris Debien of Cleveland and Chad Solomon of Maryville. Also signing with the Mocs were Dominic Lampe of St. Xavier in Louisville, Ky.; Roman Boylen of Alexander in Douglasville, Ga.; Andrew Webb of Parkview in Lilburn, Ga.; and Zach Shareef of Woodstock, Ga. Debien is projected at 133 or 141 pounds, Solomon at 174 or 184, Lampe at 184, Boylen at 141, Webb at 157 or 165 and Shareef at 141. "We are very excited about this group," UTC coach Heath Eslinger said in a school release. "There are some talented wrestlers and excellent students who fit exactly what we are looking for in our program." Debien is a three-time TSSAA champion already and was the 2014 "most outstanding wrestler" in the state tournament. Solomon has won two Tennessee titles, while Boylen has won two in Georgia and Webb and Lampe each has won one. Shareef finished third last season.
