UTC Mocs seeded eighth with first-round bye in national college football playoffs

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga football team learned Sunday morning that it has earned one of the top eight seeds, and a first-round bye, for the FCS playoffs.

As players, coaches and fans gathered in the University Center auditorium Sunday morning to watch the ESPNU broadcast, many nervously leaned forward to rest their forearms on their knees as the top seeds were announced.

Once the Mocs were named as the No. 8 overall seed, players erupted into applause and high-fives to celebrate. UTC will host the winner of Indiana State vs. Eastern Kentucky in the second round of the playoffs, with kickoff at Finley Stadium set for Saturday Dec. 6 at 1 p.m.
