Forty volunteers lend hands to build playground

What: Forty Chattanooga Valley residents volunteered time over 10 hours on Nov. 15 to build Libby's Living Legacy, an $80,000 playground in memory of Libby Gilley, a Chattanooga Valley Elementary School teacher. The playground was spearheaded by Barry Gilley, the late teacher's husband. It is located on the grounds of Chattanooga Valley Church of the Nazarene.

Benefits: As the first community playground of its kind in Chattanooga Valley, the playground and pavilion benefits all residents of the Flintstone, Ga., area.


Spectrum raises $160,000 to benefit the Hunter Museum

What: About 270 guests attended Spectrum, the annual art auction to benefit Hunter Museum of American Art. Seventy-six works were auctioned off during the fundraiser.

Benefits: Raised $160,000 for Hunter Museum.
