Santa plans pet duty, pajama party, meals with fans

What's up with the elves this week?

At two area malls, they're prepping Santa for pet photos and a pajama party. At The Chattanoogan, they're letting out the red suit for a big breakfast with Santa. And on the Southern Belle, Santa will set sail on a dinner cruise.

AT THE MALLS

At Bradley Square Mall in Cleveland, Tenn., Santa's getting ready for the first of three Pet Night photo sessions, to be held 6-8 p.m. the next three Mondays, Dec. 1, 8 and 15.

Santa hours are 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 1-6 p.m. Sundays through Dec. 14. From Dec. 15 to Dec. 23, Santa will be on duty 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Saturday, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday. Christmas Eve, he'll be on call 8 a.m.-6 p.m.

At Walnut Square Mall in Dalton, Ga., there's a Pajama Party With Santa at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2. Kids 12 and younger can enjoy storytime, sweet treats and festive entertainment, plus get a souvenir pillowcase to take home, while supplies last.

And the final Santa Paws pet photo session will be 6-9 p.m. Dec. 4 at Walnut Square. Find out more at www.walnut squaremall.com.

Photo hours with Santa are the same at Walnut Square as they are at Chattanooga's Hamilton Place and Northgate malls: 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Saturday (with hourlong breaks at 1 and 5 p.m.), noon-6 p.m. Sundays (with a break at 3 p.m.) and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Christmas Eve.

AT THE CHATTANOOGAN

Reservations are strongly encouraged for Breakfast With Santa, set for 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29. Children will have a chance to share their holiday wishes with the man in the red suit while enjoying a breakfast and carolers performing holiday tunes.

Breakfast will include an assortment of freshly baked pastries, muffins, scones, hashbrown casserole, applewood smoked bacon and French toast. Tickets are $21.95 for adults, $10.95 for children 6-12 and free for younger children.

Santa also will be making regular appearances at The Chattanoogan's Champagne Brunch each Sunday before Christmas, starting Nov. 30. And carolers, a variety of local musicians, will serenade guests in the lobby of the hotel each weekend leading up to Christmas. They'll perform 3-6 p.m. Saturdays and 1-4 p.m. Sundays. A hot chocolate bar will be set up in the lobby, and gingerbread cookies will be available for sampling and decorating. There is no fee for the event, but there is a small charge for food and beverage offerings.

ON THE SOUTHERN BELLE

The Southern Belle will offer the first of 12 Christmas carol dinner cruises at 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 30. The 2.5-hour outings include dinner, live music and a visit from Santa. Cost is $42.95 for adults, $21.95 for children 3-12.

The riverboat also plans eight 'Tis the Season lunch cruises, three Breakfast With Santa cruises and an Ugly Christmas Sweater Moonlight Cruise during December.
