Hamilton County child injured in attack by pit bull

A child was severely injured Thursday when he was attacked by a pit bull.

Hamilton County sheriff's deputies were called to 175 Daugherty Ferry Road about 10 a.m. regarding a report of a dog attack on a child.

On arrival , members of the Sale Creek Fire Department found the 10-year-old child on the front porch of the residence. The child's father said his son came screaming to the house after he was attacked by the dog described as a pit bull. The child had apparently been playing with the animal as he did often and for an unknown reason the dog attacked him.

The owner of the pit bull dog, Preston Curtin, lives on the property in a camper next to the victim's residence.

The victim sustained serious injuries to his upper left arm, with minor injuries to his upper left chest. He was flown by Life Force to an area hospital due to the seriousness of his injuries.

The Hamilton County Humane Educational Society responded to the scene and removed the dog.
