Police Briefs: Two nabbed in DeKalb County, Ala., drug case

Two men have been arrested in DeKalb County, Ala., on charges of trafficking in synthetic marijuana known as spice, according to a news release from the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office.

Corey Wayne Martin, 22, of Hot Springs, Ark., was charged with trafficking in synthetic cannabinoids and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, the release said.

Stephen Austin Hammonds, 31, of Crossville, Ala., was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the release.

Both men were being held Wednesday DeKalb County Detention Center awaiting bonds.

Information gained in the arrest led to more arrests in Marshall County, and the street value of this drug seized is estimated at $400,000. The investigation remains ongoing in Marshall County and several more arrests are anticipated in this case, according to the release.
