UT chastises students for chanting profanity during Florida loss

The University of Tennessee in an email Monday condemned profanity chanted by students in the closing seconds of Saturday's 10-9 loss to the University of Florida as "totally unacceptable."

With less than a minute to play in the Vols' 10th consecutive loss to the Gators, a clear "---- you, Florida" chant erupted from the student section, reverberating through Neyland Stadium and over an SEC Network television broadcast before the Pride of The Southland Band began playing "Rocky Top" and drowned out the chant.

"As Volunteers, we are better than that and our expectation is that this kind of behavior will never happen again," reads an email sent to students signed by UT Chancellor Jimmy Cheek, athletic director Dave Hart and Vince Carilli, vice chancellor for student life.
