Among nearly 100 Tennessee cities, those with the biggest share of white residents and the least racial diversity are:

• 1. Mount Carmel, in upper east Tennessee, 97.8 percent white

• 2. Signal Mountain, a suburb of Chattanooga, 97.5 percent white

• 3. Lafollette, in upper east Tennessee, 97 percent white

• 4. Church Hill, in upper east Tennessee, 96.6 percent white

• 5. Greenbrier, a Nashville suburb, 96 percent white
