Brittney Walker from Chattanooga and Grace Academy will be one of five inductees Saturday morning in the Lincoln Memorial University Athlete's Hall of Fame. Walker, who played softball for LMU from 2003 to 2007, leads the Lady Railsplitters in career games played (233), at-bats (748), hits (280), runs (180), doubles (77), total bases (507), pitching appearances (124), pitching starts (106), wins (66) and strikeouts (619) and is second in home runs (34), RBIs (148), slugging percentage (.678) and complete games pitched (62). She is third in walks and triples. Her career batting average for LMU was .374, and her earned run average was 2.47. Walker, a daughter of Grace coach Tina Walker, was a three-time Gulf South all-conference selection and was the Harrogate, Tenn., school's first of two first-team All-America softball players.

Tennis

• Chattanooga's Zan Guerry and Ned Caswell w0n 6-2, 6-1 Thursday over Danny Darnell of Bowling Green, Ky., and Greg Haywood of Tyler, Texas, in the doubles quarterfinals of the USTA National Men's 50 Clay Court Championships at Sarasota, Fla. Guerry and Caswell, the No. 2 seeds this week, finished second in the 50s national grass tournament in Philadelphia in late August.

Running

• Lee University cross country runner Harold Smith from Bradley Central High School was the National Christian College Athletic Association student-athlete of the week after placing eighth in the Blue race of the Greater Louisville Classic last Saturday. He broke Johnny Clemmons' school record for 8 kilometers with a 25:00.95 finish. "Harold's performance was unbelievable," Lee coach Caleb Morgan said. "He ran better than a lot of D-I teams' top man, and he ran the same time as UT's No. 1 did in the gold race." The Flames were 10th as a team.

• The 29th annual Pumpkin Run 10k road race benefiting clients of the Joe Johnson Mental Health Center will be held Saturday morning on Moccasin Bend, beginning at 9 a.m. at the guard shack in front of the center. The out-and-back course is flat and fast, and entry costs $30 until race day, when it goes up to $35. A 5-kilometer walk costing $10 also will start at 9, and a free 1-mile family fun walk begins at 9:15. See www.chattanoogatrackclub.org for more information or to register.

• Tennessee Tech junior Maddi Everts from Ooltewah was the Ohio Valley Conference women's golfer of the weeek after finishing third out of 47 players in last week's Wendy's Invitational in Mount Pleasant, S.C., with a 3-over-par 219. Through nine rounds this semester she leads the OVC with a 75.0 stroke average.
