Size: 17,200 square feet, adding 11 new classrooms.

History: Dayton City School was built in 1907 and has undergone numerous expansions. Since 1998, the school has been expanded five times. The K-8 school currently serves 825 students. School administrators hope this expansion will satisfy the school's growth for the next 10 years.
Scope: The latest expansion will allow DCS to consolidate classrooms into wings based on grade and simultaneously dedicate one portion of the school to tech labs and use.
Amenities: New classrooms will be outfitted with 70-inch TVs, which can be accessed via iPad for teachers' use.
Schedule: Construction is about one month ahead of schedule. Originally expected to be finished by February, the DCS expansion is now expected to be finished in January. When construction is complete, a new 70-foot-tall flagpole will go up behind the building's Highway 27 face and a 20-by-30-foot flag will fly there.
