A Nashville film production company has scheduled a Chattanooga screening of its new movie, complete with a red-carpet premiere with the cast in attendance.

"Keyed," from Habakkuk Filmworks, is scheduled to play at Carmike's East Ridge 18, 5080 South Terrace, from Friday, Oct. 17, to Thursday, Oct. 23, according to producer/director Howard Bell IV.

Friday's opening, set for 7 p.m., will be preceded by a meet-and-greet with the cast and crew of the film and a warm-up by Nashville comedian Ron Ron Moseley. After the movie, there will be a brief Q&A with Bell and the cast.

"Keyed" premiered in Nashville in August. Originally scheduled for a week's run, it was held over for a month due to the audience's "overwhelming response," Bell says.

The provocative film has been described as having the "feel of 'Pulp Fiction' and the sexiness of the 'Trois' trilogy." Subtitled "A Deadly Game of Sex, Lies, Betrayal," it centers on three people whose lives are intricately linked during a New Year's Eve "key party" for swingers: A young newlywed is forced into an open relationship by her star-athlete husband and best friend; an ill-fated club owner reunites with old friends to realize the bond they once shared is in jeopardy; and a loving father has to reconcile his relationship with his estranged brother to save the life of his daughter.

"This story is a roller-coaster ride that doesn't stop until the ending credits," Bell says. "I wanted to go the independent route to keep creative control and tell a story my way."

Bell says his company's is committed to expressing "the intriguing stories of African-Americans through the world of cinema."
