The Ruth Moody Band, fronted by a two-time Juno Award-winning singer/songwriter from Winnipeg, Manitoba, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, at The Arts Center in Athens, Tenn. The show is part of the Athens Area Council for the Arts' 2014-15 Black Box Concert Series.

Although best-known for her work with The Wailin' Jennys, Moody has earned critical acclaim with her eponymous band (Sam Howard, Adrian Dolan and Adam Dobres) and praise for her ethereal vocals, impressive multi-instrumentalism and songwriting talents. She has appeared more than a dozen times on the radio show "A Prairie Home Companion."

Tickets are $15 for adults, $8 for students. They may be purchased at the door or in advance at the box office, 320 N. White St.; by phone at 423-745-8781; or online at www.athensartscouncil.org.
