Duke linebacker David Helton from Baylor School has been named the national Lott Impact Player of the Week. The 6-foot-4, 235-pound senior was in on 14 tackles in Duke's 20-13 win over Virginia last week. Helton is a two-time Academic All-ACC selection and is a nominee for the Campbell Award (academic Heisman). Helton's 69 tackles in eight games lead the Blue Devils.

Golf

• Led by a 10-under-par 206 from medalist Taylor Davis, the Lee University men's golf team won by 15 strokes Tuesday with an 857 for 54 holes in the TVA Credit Union Classic at Florence, Ala. Davis won the individual honor by nine shots. Teammates Corey Sheppard and Ryne Thompson tied for 13th at 220, and Matt Strube tied for 21st at 222.

• Defending NAIA champion Coastal Georgia rallied for a one-shot win over Dalton State and its third title this season in the 21-team Chick-fil-A Men's Collegiate tournament Tuesday at Coosa Country Club in Rome, Ga. The Mariners' two-day 572 included an individual sixth-place 143 by Heritage High School graduate Hunter Cornelius, matching Dalton State's Max Bruck, one stroke behind DSC's Chase Jones in a tie for third. The Roadrunners' Levi Nix shared 12th at 146. Georgia Northwestern tied for 13th at 622, led by Chase Cole in a 16th-place tie with DSC's Sean Elliott and Dalton Johnson, and Covenant was 20th at 664. Chattanoogan Spencer Honey of Birmingham-Southern shot 154 with a first-day 72.

• Dalton State's Erika Wardzinski and Julia McQuilken were first and fourth individually at 148 and 151 as the Lady Roadrunners finished second by a stroke to USC Beaufort in the women's Chick-fil-A at Stonebridge Golf Club. DSC's 613 included a 156 by Caroline Griffin, who tied for 12th, and a 161 by Taylor Marie Griner. Rachel Rebne shot 162.

• Despite two wins in three tries each for Dalton's David Noll Jr. and longtime Calhoun resident Cres Dodd, the Georgia PGA professionals edged the GSGA amateurs 17-15 in the biennial Billy Peters Cup Matches on Sunday and Monday at Champions Retreat Golf Club in Evans, Ga. Dodd and fellow Cartersville representative Chad Branton won 5-3 and Noll with Atlanta's Chris Waters beat their pro opponents 3 and 2 in four-ball matches Sunday, and Noll and Waters won again in foursomes, 3 and 1. Dodd won 9 and 8 over Tommy Brannen but Noll lost 2 and 1 to Shawn Koch in singles Monday.

Baseball

• The Chattanooga Lookouts have promoted Andrew Zito to director of group sales. He had been group sales manager. A Florida native and 2010 graduate of the University of Central Florida, he began his Lookouts connection as a food and beverage intern in 2012. He became a full-fledged staff member a year later. "Andrew is an integral part of our organization," Lookouts president and general manager Rich Mozingo said in the announcement release, crediting Zito's rise to his "hard work and dedication."

• The Chattanooga Cyclones K fall baseball team is 27-3 for the season after defeating the West Carolina Angels/Shockwave 5-3 and 11-3 Sunday at UNC Asheville. Jackson Bell got the pitching win and Alex Barbee a save in the first game, and Corbin Brooksbank had two hits, two RBIs and two runs. Devin Lancaster and Seth Wicker pitched the second game for the Cyclones, when Hunter Oliver and Cole Vaughn had two-run doubles, Noah Hill also had a two-RBI hit and Oliver and Nic Gaddis each scored twice.

Auto Racing

• Dereck Pickle of Red Bank won the $2,000 Super Pro top prize last Saturday at the Brainerd Optimist Drag Strip with four 5.04-second runs on 5.04 dials in his new dragster powered by a 565-cubic-inch Chevrolet engine. Tommy Shackleford from Harrogate, Tenn., was second in his 1974 Chevy Vega with a 5.33-second final run on a 5.32 dial. Roger Locke of Tunnel Hill won the Foot Brake class with an 8.26-second run on an 8.25 dial in his 1962 Dodge; Stan Curvin was second in his 1978 Dodge pickup. Mattie Keener of Dunlap won the Junior Dragster class with Keenar Myers of Madisonville second. Racing will continue weekly at the strip as weather permits.

Volleyball

• Megan Gorey had 16 kills and Lexie Bradley and Megan Wadsworth combined for 20 as North Alabama beat Lee University 3-0 in Gulf South Conference volleyball Tuesday night in Florence, Ala. Lauren Williams and Latrice Johnson paced Lee (7-16, 4-9) with six kills each, Johnson adding 11 digs. Haley Foote had 19 assist and 10 digs and Stephanie Hernandez had 14 digs.

• Brenau won 3-1 in Southern States Athletic Conference volleyball Tuesday at Dalton State, despite 12 and 11 kills and 11 and 12 digs by the hosts' Alyne Bianchi and Anna Metzler and 39 assists and 11 digs by Michala Askew. Karly Newman had 21 digs and Metzler served four aces in the 25-21, 15-25, 25-18, 25-20 defeat. Each team is 6-5 in the SSAC; Brenau is 12-9 overall, DSC 10-8.

• Bryan College won 3-0 at Point while Tennessee Wesleyan lost 3-1 at home to Reinhardt in Appalachian Athletic Conference volleyball Tuesday. First-place Bryan (20-4, 11-0) won 25-17, 25-15, 25-22. TWC is 7-17, 4-7 after falling 25-14, 21-25, 25-16, 25-19 to the third-place Lady Eagles (14-8, 8-3).

Basketball

• The Chattanooga Area Basketball Club will have its fall league finals Thursday at East Ridge High School, beginning with the fifth-place game at 6 p.m. The third-place game is set for 7, the championship game for 8.
