Three hurt in two separate Chattanooga shootings

Three people were injured in two shooting incidents Wednesday in Chattanooga, according to police.

Officers responded to the second shooting at around 5 p.m. Wednesday at 4628 Oakwood Drive in which two teens suffered gunshot wounds that were not life-threatening, according to a news release from the Chattanooga Police Department.

The release said police do not believe that incident has anything to do with the earlier shooting happened at 1:20 p.m. Wednesday at 404 Tunnel Blvd., near the Shepherd Hills Apartments, according to an earlier news release.

The victim in that shooting was a black male, age unknown. He was taken to the hospital for life-threatening gunshot wounds. The suspects in the shooting fled on foot behind the apartment complex, and they are believed to be armed, as no guns were recovered at the scene.

In the later shooting, officers found a 17-year-old black male victim suffering from a nonlife-threatening gunshot wound on Oakwood Drive, and he was transported to the hospital. Police additionally discovered a 16-year-old black female victim, also suffering from a nonlife-threatening gunshot wound.

The victims' identifying information will not be released because they are minors, the release said.

The release also said police officers do have potential suspects in custody in relation to the Oakwood Drive shooting.
