Paranormal investigators set for Dalton Ghost Tours visit - Sept. 6

Thursday, September 4, 2014

The women of Archer Paranormal Investigations will be special guests at Dalton Ghost Tours on Saturday, Sept. 6. Based in Atlanta, API is made up of two attorneys and a psychic flight attendant - each affected by supernatural experiences at an early age. The trio banded together to seek "better evidence and more in-depth analysis."

Jennifer Spear says she grew up in a haunted house in Rochester, N.Y. Living with ghosts sparked a lifelong interest in the paranormal. After graduating from Atlanta's John Marshall Law School, she co-founded API with fellow alumna Lesia Miller Schnur. Together they have investigated multiple locations around the south. Spear is API's lead investigator.

In addition to holding a law degree, Miller Schnur is a former librarian who started a blog, www.thehauntedlibrar ian.com, to share her research, investigations, commentary and photography of the places she has explored. As part of API, she focuses on the historical aspects of alleged hauntings and attempts to link the past with the present. She says her fascination with all things paranormal began at age 3 when her mother found her "playing with a disembodied girl" on the stairwell of their home in Reno, Nev.

Lisa Shackelford, a Delta flight attendant, grew up in a Mississippi home rife with paranormal activity. According to Shackelford, the piano played by itself, a shadow person was seen, objects moved and one night something unseen sat on her bed. Those experiences helped develop her psychic sensitivities, she says. After hearing pioneer ghost investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren speak at her college, Shackelford realized she wanted to study the paranormal world and help people struggling with their own inexplicable experiences.

Together, they host Archer Paranormal Radio each Thursday night at 7 on www.liveparanormal.com.

Dalton Ghost Tours begin and end on the wooden deck directly across from the Wink Theatre on West Crawford Street in downtown Dalton, Ga. Saturday's tour begins at 8 p.m. with a meet-and-greet. After speaking about their haunted experiences, the API guests will join the walking exploration of Dalton's legendary past and haunted present. Ticket price is $10. Reservations are not required.
