Cook's ISIS column monstrous

David Cook, ever vigilant for opportunities to chide and scold us, aim cheap shots at Rep. Fleischmann or tickle our funny bones with his observations on capital punishment, now warns that it is dehumanizing to us to think of the butchers of ISIS as "monsters" for reasons that are abundantly clear to ... well ... David Cook. (CTFP Aug. 29, 2014.)

Neither Mr. Cook nor his editors need do as much as spend a few dollars on a current dictionary, as they are available at no cost online. Samples of their definitions of "monster" include: one who deviates from normal or acceptable behavior or character; a cruel wicked and inhuman person; one who inspires horror or disgust; someone who is wickedly brutish; a cruel or malicious person.

I could, like the Energizer Bunny, or David Cook, just keep going and going and going and going and ... Instead, I will challenge him to dispute the appropriateness of referring to the monsters of ISIS as monsters.

If he cannot, he needs to keep his lexicographical ignorance to himself and not lecture the rest of us on English language usage.

Stay vigilant for November elections

Conservatives in Tennessee's 3rd Congressional District and the entire state of Georgia should not become complacent about the November elections.

In Tennessee, Rep. Chuck Fleischmann's opponent, Dr. Mary Headrick, was recently quoted in the paper as being a progressive. That is the far left wing of the Democratic Congress, headed by former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Her infamous quote about Obamacare, "We have to pass it to see what's in it," should remind conservatives how a Congresswoman Headrick would vote. Pelosi doesn't need another helper.

Georgia's candidates for governor and senator are both descendents of Democrat politicians, Jimmy Carter and Sam Nunn. Neither candidate has any real-world experience in employment or high level, for- profit, management.

The younger Carter is an attorney and an associate in an Atlanta firm. He has served in the Georgia Senate for four years. To offset this paltry experience, one can assume he would call grandfather frequently, as managing an entire state seems above his pay grade.

Ms. Nunn's career seems to have been in managing nonprofit organizations. Sadly, under Obama's economy, many businesses have become nonprofit, then bankrupt! She would become just one more puppet for Obama's statist agenda.
